I wonder how he got himself banned...

Anyway, I loved that movie when it came out. I know there's probably a lot of Apatow fatigue these days, and I kinda agree that his style is a little played out, but I still think this is a great comedy. I watched it plenty of times in theaters.

The objective flaw in this movie is the last third drags on..... They could have ended the movie at a certain point and it would have been better off for it.

What Redbox are you going to where you can still rent The 40 Year Old Virgin lol?

Good point.

Anyway there are still video stores, people have DVDs to borrow...

Anyway, it's funny. I'm sure he's not permed.

So, besides Netflix and buying there are no other legal options? Renting has already been mentioned and what about borrowing it from a library? I do those all the time. And of course a friend might have it too.
But maybe I'm just too naive regarding this matter.

I honestly like this one. Carell was great, you had Rogen before he was overexposed and Rudd before he went on his weird indie phase, and the Apatow style wasn't a formula yet and even so this was what helped create it, and with good reason.

Yeah pretty great comedy actually.

Probably my favorite comedy. As said before, it seems like a lot of things lined up to create something special, in a corner of comedy that is by now anything but special.

40 year old virgin is awesome. That is probably one of my favourite scenes OP. It's just missing the following scene where he starts crying and proclaims he's insecure.

I remember seeing this when I was 15 or something with a big group of friends. All of the girls bailed the fuck out of the middle of it. Apparently they didn't know what they were in for lol

It's an awesome movie but it has a lot to answer for being the movie that spawned the current over saturated comedy style in films.

You could say that I blame this movie for the eventual stupid Ghostbusters reboot we have today!!

I can see this

Theres a marked subtle difference between a meandering improvised-ish style thats endearing and a just rambling 'saying shit to fill silences' that not many films get right these days.

I would point closer towards Anchorman for that.

Around where I live you can actually rent, for free, movies out of the local library system. All of the county libraries are linked together and you can go online to see if they have the movie, and then see which library it's at right now, and then go sign it out, FOR FREE, and take it home to watch it. Pretty awesome setup, it's literally a free more convenient Blockbuster. And the selection is pretty good with both newer and older movies, most are only on DVD though, blu rays are very hit or miss.
