Where does season 2 of the Witcher take place in relation to Witcher 2

No spoilers please

Just finished season 1 and was thinking about starting The Witcher 2 game.

Google said that season 1 of the show won’t spoil The Witcher 2 since it takes place before the game but can’t find anything online about season 2’s timeline in relation to the games

Debating whether to hold off playing Witcher 2 until I finish season 2 or starting it now

Edit: also does anyone know if the next generation patch will work on all the editions of the Witcher 3? Was going to grab the GOTY edition while it’s on sale on Xsx but want to make sure it will get the upgrade

Edit 2: meant to post this on gaming side my bad

I'm pretty sure the show is adapted from the books rather than the games. You'll be fine.

The main games are not canon but start after the books so there's no crossover between the show and games.

The games take place as fan fiction after the last book, the show is a rearranging and reimagining of the books narrative.

the show is set during the books and the books take place well before the games.

in universe (not release) the order is something like this:

The Last Wish
Season of Storms
Sword of Destiny
Blood of Elves
Time of Contempt
Baptism of Fire
Tower of Swallows
Lady of the Lake
The Witcher (1)
The Witcher 2
The Witcher 3

Season 1 of The Witcher kinda adapts stuff from The Last Wish/Sword of Destiny. S2 is more Blood of Elves (although it doesn't follow the book too closely). The next season(s) will take stuff from the rest of the books. If the show isn't shitcanned by Netflix then it will run 7 seasons to cover all the books. It will probably never touch the stuff that CDPR came up with for the games.

the games might not be officially canon but they might as well be. They wrap up some things that Sapkowski didn't manage and give a true ending to Geralt's story. What Witcher 4 does remains to be seen. I don't think it will continue Geralt's story (he might still appear though) and will probably follow Ciri.
