Where to return games without receipt?

KB Toys, we'll only give you store credit though. Actually that works with any product, I was pretty surprised to find that out.

Here is what we can do:

Opened games WITH a receipt will get you a direct exchange for the same title or something of equal value

Unopened games WITHOUT a receipt will get you store credit.

Unopened games WITH a receipt will get you cash, store credit, or a direct exchange.

The only catch is that it needs a KB Toys price tag...but I've taken stuff that didn't have one.

I don't know if it is all Gamestops, but my store has decided to allow an exchange on unopened games until January 15th.

Hurry up and get to a Best Buy or sumpin before the crowds disperse. Last year, Dark10x took my opened copy of PS2 NFSU, which I had purchased at a Walmart, into a Best Buy and got me a Xbox BG&E.

They just had too many people in line to waste time in not believing him.

No Kay-Bee Toys around here anymore. They all shut down. I went to Best Buy today and there was no line either. Damn, this isn't looking good.

Slightly off topic but not good enough for it's own thread. I bought a GameShark for PS2 thinking that it came with a USB adapter for memory cards because the case is an inch or so thick. Turns out, it didn't. Wal-Mark will not take the game back now, even with the receipt. I didn't want the fucking GameShark. Any bullshit excuses I can use to get them to return it?

but did it say it came with one on the box?

My gamestop takes back unopened factory sealed games for exchange without receipt. Its only typically during this time of year.

My Walmart took back three unopened games without reciepts, and gave me store credit. This was in late November. I think its a YMMV type of situation.

I agree, try going back another time or to another Walmart. It just basically depends on the mood of the CSR behind the counter.

A lot of stores are now tracking the rate of returns per customer. If you have too many returns, especially of a certain type of item, you will get denied. I don't know if Walmart is doing it yet, but they certainly take enough information when you return an item to easily do this.

I tried Wal-Mart but apparently they don't do it anymore. Any other place I can try to get store credit?
My local Wal-Mart took a wrapped GBA game. They said they actually keep track of receiptless returns now via your ID. The cashier said you get something like 3 a month or year... I forget.

At Best Buy, it is 3 per year.

Wal-Mart and the rest are for amateurs. Believe it or not, CompUSA is the absolute best place to return unopened games without a receipt. Others are decent, but almost all of them have some kind of limit or ban that they'll ultimately impose on you. It has happened either to me or to people I know at Wal-mart, Best Buy, FYE, and others.

I've done dozens of no-receipt returns at CompUSA, often with up to 3 games at once, and I have never been denied by them. They don't check IDs, so they can never nail you for doing it twice, and they let you fill out the name/address/phone number form yourself. Simply write down a different name each time and you're all set. They also tend to sell old, old games at full price, which means chances are pretty darn good that if you bring in a $5 Circuit City game you'll get $40-50 for it. Last I checked this was true of games like JSRF, Bloodrayne, Murakumo, Freaky Flyers, Red Faction, and many others.
