Where's the interest for Soul Calibur 3?

Seriousely. Everyone was having a fit over Soul Calibur 2. So where's the interest and love for Soul Calibur 3? It has online and a bunch of other modes.

Is it cause it doesn't have Link that all the people who were making a fuss about it (nintendo fans) are all quiet now? Only posts I've seen relating to SC3 is about that owl guy.

Soul Calibur 3 just went gold fyi.

I don't think it has online...unless I've been out of the loop because that would be huge!!

I watched the TGS trailer and it was showing online tournaments. What's that about then?

No online I am afraid. It would have been a great addition but the new features and modes more than make up for it. With that said, my interest is high.

I'd say the lack of hype is more about a fighter being on fairly old hardware, as well as SC2 not having the impact (quality, not sales) that the previous game did. PS2 games just aren't getting much attention from hardcore fans these days, other than RPG fans who are accustomed to seeing some of their favorites come out at the end of a hardware cycle.

Too bad, because there are plenty of quality titles still to come, and the impressions for SC3 have been favorable. I'm a casual fighter fan these days, but I'll be picking this one up.

Its GAF, so the only fighting games that has high amount of interest are Street Fighter or Virtua Fighter series.

That said, this is easily my most anticipated game at the moment. It comes out on the 25th of October right? Damn I really wish Namco would release an arcade version too so I can have some decent versus battles...

I think you answered your own question. Despite also being on the same, dominant platform, PS2, SC II set a precedent for many regarding the series and the expectation that SC III would hit all platforms. Take that away and, well, there are less people who will buy it and even less that will talk about it, IMO. If SC II was quite easily more popular on the PS2 than the other platforms (looking at the number of those who bought it), the topic of SC III would be more active, I think.

Did you play soul calibur 2? snoozer
I actually, I would agree this statement in general. The game just felt more like a next gen port of the original Soul Calibur with very little added.

Which is exactly why I am so excited for Soul Calibur 3. So much new content! I didn't pick up SC2, but SC3 is a day one purchase for me.

I have no problems with SC2 and the features of SC3 aren't enough to warrant a purchase from me. That, and it has no Link ;) jk... maybe...

Soul Calibur [2] and thus the upcoming 3 should be on everyones list.

It's the only fighter that successfully captures depth of action with fierce visceral feel with simplicity.

I've made posts on depth versus flash (substance vs. style) on many occasions, Soul Calibur probably has the best balance between substance and style.

I'd be more interested if SC3 was next gen. Having 3 SC's in one generation just killed it for me. I played SC1 like damn religiously, then 2 came out and it was good, but didn't evolve enough for me to really have the same interest. Now 3 is coming out, and I just can't seem to care all to much.... Shame really.

If it was a launch title or something for this next gen, I'd be all over it. Ah well...

My interest in Soul Calibur III was diminished until I played the demo. But that demo convinced me it's such a great leap forward for the franchise that I cannot be without it. It seriously added so much that it deserves to stand on its own and sell extremely well.

Getting it on day one, I'm a big fan of Soul Calibur.

All the new additions, gameplay tweaks, and the create-a-character mode sold me on the game. Hopefully I'll be able to recreate Garret from the Thief series.

1. It's not multiplatform
2. It's not online

I haven't read all that much about the game. Not alot of new characters, looks identical to Soul Calibur II, is being released only 2 years after Soul Calibur II, and is being released late in the PS2s life cycle. The create-a-fighter doesn't really appeal to me. SCIII seems alot more like Soul Calibur II EX than Soul Calibur III.

The game is fucking awesome. But only if you have regular opponents who are at your skill level. Otherwise, like every fighting game in town, it all feels pretty pointless. Yes, even with all the single-player crap.

I haven't read all that much about the game, but to me it just seems rushed. Not alot of new characters, looks identical to Soul Calibur II, is being released only 2 years after Soul Calibur II, and is being released late in the PS2s life cycle. Again, I don't know all the differences between SCII and SCIII, but SCIII seems alot more like Soul Calibur II EX than Soul Calibur III.

Soul Calibur III has so many new additions it's frankly insane. Anyone who feels it's just a SCII EX has clearly not been following the game, or just wants to get into an argument.

- Create-a-character; over 600 items to customize your character. Also change color gradiants, skin tone, face, voice, fighting style and much more!
- Tons of gameplay tweaking; faster movement, extra balancing
- Strategy Mode that allows you to fight battles/level up your character
- Event based mode that has you fighting all sorts of crazy shit like Colossus
- A waaaaay improved story mode that retains some of the Soul Edge advancement while providing suitable reasons for everyone's involvement
- Better visuals over SCII
- The largest cast of fighters in the series history, including three new ones

I can go on and on, but I won't. Instead I'll say read up on the game, because this is no mere incremental upgrade.

Too bad it isn't online, I would totally kill you with Garrett and his blackjack of DOOM.

Yeah :( If there's any page (and it's the only page!) that should be ripped from Dead or Alive, it's the way they set up online mode.

Wait...what?

Some of the changes made to the game really bug me, but to casual or non-competitive SC players it's not going to matter at all.

I'm interested. I'm not interested in the new characters or that I can't get upped visuals, BUT I'm interested in the new modes.

For Japan is released 23. I will buy it for the character edition and the usually interesting options for single players. That, and the fact I really like Soul Calibur saga.

On GAF DOA gets more hype :lol

But no. SC3 is widely anticiapted. The big PS2 games in general arent getting that much attention here.

I have both Soul Calibur and it's sequel (will get my claws on Soul Blade one day! :p) and of course I'm waiting for the third one. No online is a pity, but it won't affect my decision of getting this game.

I will receive the demo this week, I live in Europe, everything comes too damn late over here :(, and will probably post my impression somewhere around here. Where else?! :p

Anyway, the new modes really sparked my interest, but the new characters are not really impressive. We'll see how they play out, though I'll probably end with Kilik yet again, he just f***in sticks! (get it? yeah?.... No? Oh, too bad... :()

i was more interested in the previous sc games because they were appearing on newish hardware, but, i'm still interested in sc3, it looks great! :)

Give me a Soul Calibur beatemup. I want those graphics in there plus the ability to explore those stages while I'm running around kicking enemies asses. Throw in a good story, some wicked bosses,and....ah forget it.

It'll never happen. It would rule though.
