I have n sane trilogy which is 1-3 remastered and then crash 4

I have no nostalgia with this IP so I'm guessing one of the more modern ones is probably better

Start by playing the first Crash Bandicoot in the remastered trilogy. But surprisingly, even the original trilogy on PS1 emulated or not still holds up pretty well.

There ARE no CRASSY BANDY-COOCHIE-COOCHIE game!
you're not going to make me crazy too sofia vergara GIF by Identity

2 is the best balanced, 3 is a lot of fun but has too many side games, 1 was the most difficult but is just limited/restricted compared to the rest.

4 is good to play, unless you want to 100% it, then it wants to kill you.

I tried playing the remake of the first game but the remake changed depth and jumps in a way that made it impossible for me to adjust to after playing the PS1 originals. Only modern game I would recommend is the kart racing remake. The PS1 trilogy is better.

If you have the N.Sane Trilogy, start with 1. It's the one that benefited the most from the QoL features and the reworked physics/collisions.
I personally had a blast with 1 remastered, and a horrendous time with 2 and 3 due to how they feel compared to the originals.

Crash 4 is a solid game, but add me to the list of people who'll dissuade you from even thinking about 100%ing it. If you try it, you'll discover layers of trolling that come straight from the Kaizo book. The game is out to laugh at you, and you won't find it funny in the slightest.

I have no plans to play it, but I am very curious about this Kaizo level trolling

I started with the 1st in the trilogy not too long ago, I'm getting my ass handed to me on some levels, the game is hard. No wonder I never got far in it as a youngster.

Def start with the OG, no reason not to. Thinking about it, I may boot that game up today sometime. Been a while. They knocked it outta the park with the remaster.

The game simply knows what your first instinct will be at any given time, because it gets you into a rhythm and then it will suddenly change it when your mind and your muscles have settled into it. It constantly lures you with red herrings, just to trigger a trap when you've committed to a jump or another move you can't take back. You either have godlike reflexes, or you'll have to die again and again and learn each setpiece by heart. Lots of one-shot segments that you have to do perfectly in one go, too. And let's not get into where some boxes are hidden, that's pure madness.
Plus, some items can only be obtained if you get to the point where they're placed without dying, and the levels are long.
Finally, if you lose one life too many in a level, you won't get 100% in it, even if you found everything else.

Let me know how this turns out for you OP. I dabbled in Crash near the original launch window, but I never got the appeal beyond "6.5/10" platformer. Didn't hold my attention next to ratchet and clank and the other platformers of the time.

Saw the trilogy on sale and wondered if I was missing something and should buy it.

the 1996 launch or the remaster launch?

1, 2, 3, CTR, and try The Huge Adventure for GBA (everyone sleeps on this game despite it perfectly capturing the feel of the original trilogy).

1996. Never played a remaster unless one had a demo maybe. I just don't like running toward the camera I guess. Not saying it's bad, tons of people like it. Just maybe not for me.
Most of the games levels are running away from the camera, but def has several running towards it. They nailed the remasters though and many even prefer it's sequels as they def stepped it up in them and probably addressed your concerns. For $15 you can't go wrong imo
