Which PS3 tech demo impressed you the most?

Baron Aloha

A Shining Example
I don't know about you guys but for me it was definitely the eye-toy demo with the glasses of water. It was very impressive. All they would need to do is pack in a headset with the next generation eyetoy and they'd have some pretty convincing VR IMO.

Killzone and that rally game. But they're pre-rendered :/

Out of th real0time stuffs, I really liked Insomniac's FPS and the Unreal demo was looking as hot as ever.

I agree I thought that looked really cool.

I also liked when the two ships were battling each other in the bathtub, the physics and destruction of the boats looked really good.

Eyetoy Rubber Ducky(Gameplay possibilities)
Unreal demo(visual WOW, and the fact it was pretty much just RSX)
12 simultaneous HDTV stream decoding(Raw data processing power...possibilities for live webcam streams layered on top of gameplay, detailed menus navigation, etc).

Was "Killing Time" Real Time????

Anyways, that had me the most excited for some reason, real cool shooting effects and such.

the real-time FF7 intro technical demo

the real-time KillZone trailer

the 'it's-probably-prerendered-CG' Motor Storm teaser

the real-time Ducks, Ships, Glasses, Water demo

Wow, I just checked out the MotorStorm, forget the graphics, the gameplay looks like it would be killer.

The whole rubber ducky thing and eye toy demo was excellent. Another demo that I really liked was the Nvidia demo showing off subdermal scattering effects (not sure if that's what it's called). I had my face up near the streaming video trying to take in the technical beauty in that Luna model. Then she came alive and startled me.... fucking amazing tech.

I actually loved the terrain demo on the PS3. Thats something that always bothered my about flying games. I can't wait to see a next gen Ace Combat.

Why waste your time. Warhawk looks like it's about to put the smackdown on anything involving aerial combat. ;)

I was most impressed by Killzone. I haven't seen the Eyetoy demo yet, but it sounds hot - and you're right; it is the sort of thing Nintendo would do if they weren't curled into a fetal position sucking their thumb.

There may have been more technicaly impressive demos than Killzone, but Killzone had the right combination of SHIT GETTING FUCKED and atmosphere that I appreciate to make it a winner.

Sega's dumb game, and the lesbo voyuer game were probably the weakest. Although I could be saying that out of spite because even video game girls laugh at my penis. :lol

I know that looked great. But I really like real world aircraft as well.

I would be beyond floored if they could do a racing/driving game that could generate tracks + maps like that based on Satellite data used in that landscape demo.

Given how they also demonstrated CELL generating foliage as well, put that together with the landscape demo and throw in calculated physics and stick it all in a driving game and it would be absolutely insane.

That's really the thing that I came away with most impressed about the demos, it's that if you put them together and stick them as elements in a game you could come up with some really good stuff.

Tearing up cloth simulations is a pretty big deal. You don't often see that in pre-rendered stuff, nevermind realtime.

Out of the definite real time ones, it's by far the eyetoy one. The scooping up water part just floored me.

Glad I was not the only one
that was just too cool, I wish they showed more

The FFVII demo and the Unreal one looked stunning, and real-time. I'm still not convinced about most of the other demos, so I'll exclude those.

The rubber duckie demo was the one that truly made me go *wow* many times. that eyetoy stuff was just spectacular.

For the game related demos, Killzone and Motorstorm are pretty much tied.

The Alfred Molina model from Spiderman 2 when they started showing light through the ear lobes and it looked perfect. That is shit that is very hard to do on anything.

Second was the eyetoy and drinking glasses, that was pretty amazing

third FF7 tech demo

Of the confirmed realtime stuff, rather than the video reel, the ducky demo. Anything that shows off LOD effects like that is truly next gen.
