So with Corona Chan closing cinema's all over the world and basically everyone going into lockdown, studio's have a unique opportunity.

I think the first one that releases their delayed movie can make a killing. People will want some sort of taste of the old life, and even watching a movie can bring that. It can also play on the whole entertaining people when they are stuck at home look how helpful we are etc...

We just saw Disney release Frozen 2 and Star Wars early. Its not out of the realm of possibility another company decides to stream their movie.

Releasing it early to streaming vs solely on streaming is entirely different.

studios would not "make a killing" they would be killing themselves actually. Cinema release profit is in the hundreds of millions of dollars. You can't make that up with a digital home release.

This year will be the worst year since before the box office existed for movies.

They're just going to delay openings to next year. They already hold on to finished movies for years considering release schedules, what's another year

Be careful what you wish for. What if this pushes companies to go digital only?

Streaming should be kept as an option, but not as a replacement for physical goods.

I mean only during the virus scare. With cinemas closed for the next few weeks and people practicing social distancing there is a chance for a studio to release to the public their movie and make a ton of money. What else is evwryone in lockdown going to do ?

When life goes back to normal they will probably stop. But we dont even know when normal is cinemas could be emoty for months.

Disney should definitely put Mulan out for streaming. No one wanted to pay for that one before the virus either
