Trying to plan a Whitewater rafting / camping trip with my girlfriend, and we were browsing this site yesterday:

Anyone have experience with this resort, or have a recommendation for a better place?

Specifically we're looking for a 2 day event, rafting the first day, camping for a night and rafting the second day.

Never been whitewater rafting before either.

A trip down the Gauley will be quite the first experience! I think that resort books trips on the both the Gauley and the New. The New River will be closer to the resort, but the Gauley IMO is the better trip. Just do both, if you plan on rafting 2 days. The Gauley is bit more exhilirating.

As far as ACE goes, I've not been there but i have heard they have MANY activities on site. Sort of an adventure resort. I'm pretty sure there was a segment on a Travel Channel show recently that was all about that place..."Extreme Resorts" I think was the show.

I was the one posting about whitewater rafting, but I'm on the West Coast. The Gauley is supposedly a pretty legendary river according to the more experienced guys I hang out with.
