I've never owned a PSX, PSone, PS2, or PStwo, or a PSP. I don't ever plan on getting one, either, nor do I see myself picking up a PS3 or whatever PSthree Sony makes. The only downside to this is that I own Katamari Damancy, so I can only play it when I go over to my friend's house.
It's not that I hate modern gaming, it's that I hate Sony and the overpriced, absolutely shoddy products they sell. Looking around my room, you see my TV is a Toshiba and my CD player is from Panasonic, I think the only electronic in my whole studio that's made by Sony is the DVD burner I'm borrowing from my dad. Sony's shit sucks. I know there's the whole "they build them to break" rumor, but as far as I'm concerned it might as well be true. If it doesn't fall apart it simply stops working.
You know that friend I just talked about going to his house to play Katamari? He's on his second PS2. First one stopped reading games, and then the disc trey fell apart.
And then there's the PSP with the whole fucked up button that's "part of the design," not to mention the thing cramps my hands to hell whenever I try to play it. (Again, at my friend's house.)
I was happy with owning just a Gamecube (and a Dreamcast, if that counts for anything anymore) but when Rare went to Microsoft, I had to bite the bullet and buy an Xbox. Kinda sad that I essentially ended up paying $150 for one game (Conker), but in retrospect I'm pretty happy with it, as I get my "mainstream" or "casual" games for the Xbox (GTA Double Pack, Beyond Good & Evil, PoP:SoT, Splinter Cell, Timesplitters 3), and Nintendo games on my GameCube.
