Who else wouldn't mind seeing another cel-shaded Zelda?

psycho_snake

I went to WAGs boutique and all I got was a sniff
I've been replaying Zelda: WW and once again Ive been swept away by the graphics again. Despite what anyone says about the game looking kiddy or stupid, I think that the graphics are just excellent. The colours are great and its brillianjt in motion. The game does get boring during the triforce hunt, so I decided to stop playing there because I cant be arsed going back and forth the ocean just to find some stupid maps. The game could have been made better by making it more difficult, adding more dungeons and making the ocean a lot smaller, but you cant fault the graphics.

After playing it again though, Im worried this might be the only cel-shaded Zelda that Nintendo will bother making. Zelda: TP looks amazing too and its nice to see Zelda back to a more realistic look, but I hope Nintendo dont just stay with the realistic look and forget all about the cel-shaded Zelda, because it did look brilliant. I just hope that on revolution we can see something similar to this generation by having one cel-shaded Zelda and one realistic Zelda.

Im sure Im not the only one who feels like this though, Im sure there are many others who would like to see another cel-shaded Zelda.

Yes and it has been confirmed numerous times that another cel shaded Zelda will game will be made kthnxbye.

I think they should remake the original NES game with the cel-shaded graphics, and an expanded world and story.

I definitely wouldn't mind it. I loved the way The Wind Waker looked, and I love the way Twilight Princess looks. But one day I would like to see another cel-shaded Zelda game. And the next Game Boy would likely be a good platform to do it on.

I'd love it. Both looks have a place in the series, I just don't know how they can possibly convince the public of that.

Well, Celda did sell more than 1.5 million copies WW, maybe it was over 2 million, I cant remember though, but Nintendo probably saw that as a failure and it is compared to other Zelda games. Zelda: OOT managed to sell over 7 million copies.

Is it possible to do a 3d celda on DS? the tony hawk ds game looks pretty sweet(graphically) and it looks cel shaded.

I want another cel-shaded zelda game asap! Though I really like the look of TP I feel that windwaker is by far the best looking 3-D zelda. Maybe DS could handle a nice looking cel-shaded zelda?

I'd like one, and I wouldn't mind if they made a version for the DS.

I want to see more devs put the ds' 3d capabilities to use

We know that Nintendo are making a Zelda DS, but nothing has been said about it. maybe Nintendo are planning to use cel-shaded graphics.

Did you guys think that the game lookd fine as it is now or would you rather have had a darker there? Personally, I think its fine just the way it is and I dont want to see Nintendo try and make it look more 'mature' by giving it a darker theme. Ubisoft tried to do that with POP: WW and that turned out pretty shit.

Sometimes I wonder if Zelda fans have the ability to be pleased. Nintendo went cel-shade people bitched, Nintendo switches it up and gives gamer what they said they wanted in the first place, more bitching. I think both styles are nice.

And the obvious answer to that is that you can't split an audience into one of two sides of the fence. It is possible to like both styles

Personally I want another cel-shaded game more than the TP style, although I'm sure I'll enjoy TP just as much as WW.

I really hope there will be a new cel-shaded Zelda. But why don't we wait until the new Zelda for the Nintendo DS will be presented? It will make you smile, I think.

I would have preferred it, the upcoming one is boring just to look at. only my opinion of course

I feel the same way. Teepee isn't impressive at all.

I wouldn't mind another game with a cel-shading style like Wind Waker, but I don't see why it has to be a Zelda game.

funny how almost everyone at this forum was whining at the celshading of zelda a couple of years ago. And how the winds has changed. I guess Nintendo just can't satiesfy the gamers.

Not I, said the cat.

I adored Wind Waker from that very first movie that had everyone bawling. TP is very "meh" as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure it'll be fun though even if it is ZOMGMATOOR.

I also thought TWW screenshots where boring to look at. If there is a "Celda 2" please let Link get some glasses. The blurry background was a pain in the eyes. With TP everything will be fine.

TP has a rebuilt WW engine, and it shows in some shots. There are still some celshading effects left.

Who is saying anything about the engine? I'm talking art direction. Most of the stuff that is "cel-shaded-esque" involves that dreary twilight area. Still meh.

Though that one drawing of Zelda reminded me very much of Fire Emblem, which isn't so bad. But it's still meh.

Aye, for no other reason to mix things up abit and keep the series fresh. WW complaints were not its beautiful style, well not from anyone I would call actually gamer that see games as art, but more to do with tediousness, easy and lack of dungeons.

Well, I really like the new art of Link and Zelda. I guess we have to wait and see the end result.

I think WW looks much too empty. Well...it was empty. While some areas where gorgeous (fire dungeon) others looked just boring (islands like the two main ones...).
+ There was this blur effect. I think it was there to blur the empty background :/
I mean--->with WW's Style they should/could have made a much more beautyful game, imo.

I don't think when TP comes out and you actually play it and see it in motion you will still say it looks "meh". But that's your problem.^^

Nintendo have satiefied me with both Zelda games this generation. Im just concerned that Nintendo might put Cel-shaded Zelda to one side. That would be a real shame because cel-shaded Zelda looked really good.

Not really interested in it, no. Wind Waker was terrific, and the graphics beautiful, but the new look in TP is very Lord of the Rings-eque and much more "of the times." I'd rather have the realistic Zelda, and I think it's important for Nintendo to take that step. That said, I think a Celda game on the DS would be great, but it shouldn't be on a home console.

I'd love to see another one, but make it a less conventional Zelda. More along the lines of Majora's Mask. And really take advantage of the cell-shading. If they let their imaginations go wild, you would end up with a Studio Ghibli type world. Spirited Away meets Zelda or something.

Maybe even make it a spin-off so the cell-shading doesn't cause the fuss it did before. Be a shame if they don't do something like that again.

It doesn't matter what type they choose, it's their artistic right to decide. Just because they went with standard polygonal models this time doesn't mean that they won't do another cell-shaded version some time in the future. It's up to them to decide, and i'll happily play the next game whatever it's style, whenever it comes along.
That said they do ofcourse listen to fan opinions, so yes; I would definately love to play another cell-shaded one.

*raises hand*

Wind Waker was what turned me onto zelda entirely --- since, I've played all of them .... It might have its faults, but the WW style perfectly matches LttP ... so, I love LttP just as much!

I like both. In fact I'd like to see a Zelda that has both. Take windwaker, in the B&W scenes. Imagine if there was a Zelda game that had scenes like the B&W, but cell shaded instead. Or a Zelda where young Link's world is cell shaded, but as he matures, it becomes more like TP.

yes, as long was we get a ALTTP style overworld instead of the damn sea, or at least a few HUGE continents and faster boats as the game progresses (or maybe even some king of airplane?)

Quite frankly, I would have preffered another game that used WW's style as oppossed to TP but Twilight Princess has it's place as well. The WW art style works very well and I would like to see them continue using it.

I'll have all the console Zeldas after Twilight Princess cel shaded thanks

Yes, because since TP looks ugly (to people with bad eyes, not that it looks like the best graphics ever), that means any realsistic Zelda made after will look bad.

Shut uuuuuup.
