I own three DVDs:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Garen State
Magnolia (SE)

However, since I got a new computer I've been renting and copying:
Finding Neverland
Hotel Rwanda
The Breakfast Club
The Incredibles
Primer
Sideways

Also all three season of Family Guy (yes, finally!)

and by renting and copying you mean renting from your personal library and making legal backups correct :)
kidding

all of mine are included in teh must buy catagory or i wouldnt have bought them.. im more tight with my money when buying dvd's that arent worth my money
that being said i own about 100 original dvds not including some television sets

The bar I set for must buy now is very high. I basically only buy full on special editions. None of these new SE that are just the old one with a new disk. I like the SuperBits so if I buy and its available it has to be in that format. Basically what makes a movie a must buy is the DVD stuff more then the movie. If it's they best movie ever but the DVD sucks it's no longer a Must Buy as I'll wait, for the SE or HD-DVD.

Yeah I wouldn't waste a good DVD on something I didn't really like, anyway. I do plan on purchasing all these films in the future (that I've copied). I don't understand why anyone would buy a DVD they had no information on, or a fullscreen stripped down version

yeah but then they come out with a 3 disc super double special edition like a year later with 1 hour of extra bonus features. its a never ending cycle

My definition of "must buy" has changed drastically lately. If the movie is a huge hit, sure to be available for years to come, it becomes a rental.

My "must buy" movies are tiny, independant and foreign gems that will probably go on moratorium a year or so after their release and/or not be released on HD DVD.

My criteria for buying a movie is that I have to be able to watch it over and over and not get tired of it, otherwise It's just a rental. In my collection I have everything that Pixar has ever put out, the all the Star Wars films, The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, the first Matrix film, amongst some others such as Braveheart, Blackhawk Down, etc.

The Indiana Jones trilogy, the Iron Giant, and Lawrence of Arabia are the three things I have to own.

My must owns would be:

1. Taxi Driver - Not because the disc is anything special in way of features or anything, but the movie is just so damn good. You need to own this one. It is a bargain buy, too, so there is no reason not to own it (unless you don't like the movie, but you should be ashamed of yourself if you don't!) If there is one movie that needs the complete rework in way of a 2 disc special edition - it is Taxi Driver.

2. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: SE - Quite possibly the greatest western ever made or at least one of the greatest. The special edition set is very nicely done, as well.

3. The Godfather Trilogy Set - Three of the best - actually make that two of the best - films of all time. The box set is very nicely done with some good commentaries and a nice amount of special features.

TehPirate, Run Lola Run, and Cube are two of my must haves. Ther both brilliant, I would take Trainspotting over the Beach though.

As far as Taxi Driver is there not a SE out of this one yet? I thought there was and have been meaning to grab it.

Godfather makes my list as well.

Beauty and the Beast is on my list but I'm only admiting it because Tsubaki already did.

Excellent movie, but I think I prefer the Beach's Scenery and Soundtrack to trainspoting.
