Honestly I think a combination of early Sabbath and Blue Cheer and also Keith Moon to an extent.

Whoever did it... thanks... I can't go a day without metal. It's the best drug ever.

When I was a kid and I saw Accept's Balls to the Wall on TV I knew that it was the path for me :D

easy. heavy metal is what you get when you mix nerds and drugs. J. R. R. Tolkien + acid. it's all about fantasy and psychedelia turning dark.

i know the first Black Sabbath album is metal ground zero but T. Rex's "Beard of Stars" came out the same year and featured Van Halen style tapping.

Tastes aside, the musical complexity of this is 9999999999x the complexity of rock or heavy metal.
It's not even comparable.

Once your brain gets used to feel this kind of music, you just realize how empty other things are.

Or in other words, the more you educated you get in something, the more you realize how wrong you were before.
