When they fired Alex (a newcomer at that point) and the rest of the TechTV staff, except for Sarah, I stopped watching that incarnation of the show on G4/TechTV. Thankfully everyone left to do Rev3, TWiT, or something else.

Fuck G4 and Comcast.
Well they didn't fire Kevin Rose or the X-Play guys either. Kevin Rose stuck around for a year or two at G4 if I remember. I remember him doing E3 coverage on G4.

Google has clearly jumped the shark. Whatever coolness they once had is gone.

What appreciable skills does Rose have? What can he make? I couldn't even dream of, say, Apple finding a job for him.

The same Apple that hired Matt Casamassina, a games journalist, to approve games for the App Store? That Apple?

That isn't his job at Apple. He picks the games that appear on the front page. The recommended ones. The best of year game lists on the app store, etc. Which makes sense, since well he likes video games.

It's a Rorschach test that reveals the subject's subconscious thoughts.

That's awfully cocky of you to say about me! Not every Tom, Dick and Harry has their mind in the gutter you know! I'm going to have to think long and hard about giving you guys the shaft up in this thread...

Tomato, tomato. Rose would be an asset to any company. He's smart, inventive, has good connections, and star power.

Well he is doing what his job was at ign in a way at apple. Playing games and showcasing the ones he finds good.

That's quite a bit different than what you said he did in which he approves apps. Which the job is to see whether they work and don't infringe on copyright.

What he does at apple builds on what he did at ign. App approval is a completely different job in a unrelated department within Apple likely.

I've never really gotten over the absolute slaughter of TechTV. Nothing has ever really filled the void for me either.

I think Martin quit the podcast scene to go work for an ad company in 2009. Depressing.

You know what finally filled that void for me? Whiskey Media.

:/

I remember an episode of Diggnation awhile back wherein he announced that he no longer "believed" in Google causing him to sell all of his stock (in favor of Facebook). Interesting.

It's not tomato tomato, it's an entirely different job. Rose has 'star power', ie. he's known as the guy who makes products that fail.
