So here I was trying to play some Phantom Dust and my Xbox refuses to load the game 3 times in a row...feeling a bit concerned I eject the disc and examine it only to discover a large very visible perfectly round semicircle scratch. The game won't load on my other Xbox and after checking Timesplitters 3 I notice several small scracthes along the back of the game as well (thogh it still works in my other Xbox)

The XBox in question is from 2002 and has a Thomson drive and up until today I haven't experienced any real problems with it (i've received about 10 disc errors in the past year or so, though...so I guess this wasn't completely out of the blue)

fuck this sucks =\

at any rate, what are my options? I want MS to front the bill for the fucking damage that their shitty drive caused...partly for justice and partly because I'm a fucking cheap ass

Same thing happened with my very first Playstation, right out of the box, had to take it and the games I got with it back.

I'm not sure on what the warranty covers exactly, but if you've had it for more than 90 days, it probably doesn't cover anything.

Phantom Dust is just... Shittily pressed. Which is a pity.

And I wish I could call up Microsoft about my DVD drive. I would, but... The seals are broken.

Yeah, good luck with that. You could just buy another drive and install it yourself.
