Why are Best Buy receipts so damned long?

WHO DEY!?
I bought a single 20 oz bottle of Coke, and the reciept was literally a foot and a half long. Is it really necessary? Perhaps I am too much of a tree hugger but it's an awful waste of paper. Survey information and warranty information for a Coke receipt.

EDIT, no I can't type, sorry about the typo in the title.

You should see Circuit City's

It's not only 3 feet long, but it's 5 inches wide, and if you have a rebate...OH NOES! Another 180 SQUARE INCHES OF PAPERY GOODNESS!

Yeah, I'll have to agree - the length of BB and Circuit Shitty reciepts is definitely ridiculous. Especially if you just buy one or two things. Jesus. I'll buy a CD at Best Buy and the reciept comes out of the register printer like a royal carpet.

Though not so bad as CC or BB, Fry's receipts are on the long side as well.

No they aren't. At least when compared to CC or BB. They're pretty normal. Unless you're buying 500 things.

Best Buy's receipts are so long because of the online survey which used to be printed largely at random, but is now printed on every receipt; it's something they've done for about a year now. They used to offer incentives to call it, like $5 BB gift cards, but now it's just a chance for a drawing I think. CC's are notoriously long, wide, and I believe that's because they include their entire return policy on it. Fry's are normal.

I bought like 4 games for $5 a piece at Circuit City last year and one of them didn't scan for $5 like it was marked so they had to edit the transaction. When they were finished the receipt had to be 3 or 4 feet long. Seriously.

Not only am I abusing EV1's bandwidth, I'm on their payroll! I'm at work right now. Tech support sucks :/

So..what's your excuse, I normally associate EV1 subscribers with less than stellar intelligence, but some people use it for their email that they've had for years, and...other's as a backup for their cable connections...? Which is it? :P

Kind of a mixture. I've had that EV1 address for forever, but have Time Warner Cable at my apartment. I keep the account open for the e-mail address, to use my EV1 webspace as my own personal image hosting service, and 'cause my brother still needs dial-up at my parents house. 10 bucks a month, still worth it. I get wicked fast upload and downloads off my FTP space.

Because Fry's uses generic 8.5x11 multiform/carbon sheets from the 1980s to print their sheets on.

I like buying things from HH Gregg, because instead of normal receipts you get a 9X12" invoice in triplicate copy that helps your purchase of a $100 digital camera feel really important

:lol

Fry's receipts own. (Yes, I'm only saying that because I worked there, and they really suck...and they're the worst idea in the history of ideas ever)

As "efficient" as their "ONE LINE 70 REGISTERS" theory is...they lose that efficiency in having to walk to the printer, which is sometimes about 10 registers away, and pick up the receipt, etc etc. Yeah, but whatever. I don't work there anymore so I can bitch about all the stuff I know sucks...and I can exploit them XD

I love the return policy. DIGITAL CAMERA RENTALS!

I'd wondered what their return policy was for digital cameras :)

15 days
No restocking fees.
Must have everything included with no damage/etc.

If I get WS tix, I'm buying a bitchin Sony Digital Camera with like 10x optical zoom and taking pix at the game. :D

TRU has their return policy on the back of their receipts. intelligent design, I guess?

Best Buy, at least, has their return policy on the back too.. that's not why their receipts are so long.

EBGames has their return policy on the back of their receipts too. Unfortunately what it says amounts to "you can't return shit".

:lol :lol
So true, my friend bought a small pack of bubble gum at Bestbuy after I bought some DVDs, his receipt came out longer than mine. Horrible.
