Why didn't Halo 2 work on my bud's 360?

Alright, someone answer me this.

I D/Led the Halo 2 patch to play. I played it on my 360 to see if it worked. Everything was fine.

So, I took my hdd over to my bud's house to play Halo 2. Well, his 360 would not recognize Halo 2 even with my hdd on. What was the deal?

I know there's bee several patches released, but surely you don't have to be connected to Live for the patch to work? Anyone have any ideas?

ya, .. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that your friend needs to download the update using his own Xbox 360 and his own copy of Halo 2 ...

You could probably do that thing where you download the compatibility patches fom xbox.com and burn them to a CD and install them on your friend's xbox (with your hard drive installed if he doesn't have one) and have it work that way.

yeah the patches might be stored on rom but really... halo 1 / halo 2 are 2 games that should work out of the box regardless

When I did halo 2 on the 360 it needed to patch, but afterwards stuff wouldnt load or maps couldnt be found, so I took the disc out and put it back in and voila, so I dunno.

Is his X360 connected via the VGA cable? IIRC both halo games don't work over VGA.

Edit: I think this only applies to the European Version of the games requiring 50hz output while VGA is fixed to 60hz.

Works fine on NTSC.

It works, but it assumes 16:9 if you try any resolution higher than 640x480.

Halo 1 and 2 work on the 360 out of the box, no updates required (though the updates make the game run better).

My 360 D/Led something that said was necessary for it to play. So, I'm not sure. I guess I should have just tried using his hdd with the game.

It was just weird though because his 360 was saying that Halo 2 was from the wrong region. And that just isn't true.

If you're on Xbox Live it will prompt you to download the updates before playing, otherwise Halo 1 + 2 will play out of the box without updates.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory would hang on loading on my 360. It worked the first couple of times, but after that it was a no go. I tried rebooting and everything - still same shit.

I took back my Xbox and all the games shortly there after. Fuck BC in the ass - it's a total fucking joke.
