This one seems to be going under the radar, but I'm looking forward to Crave's Pinball Hall of Fame which is supposed to be out by the end of the month:

12 Gottlieb pinball machines recreated, sounds like game sharing can be used for any table, and it even lets you display the table vertically on the screen. Looks pretty good in screens:
This looks great! I don't know how I managed to miss GameSpot's preview, since this type of game is right up my alley. I'm going to keep an eye out for this title, especially since I never got around to getting it for PS2 last year. Taking into consideration the inclusion of extra tables and the portability aspect, this could end up being the definitive version.

I've always felt that way about handheld games. The PSP didn't change anything there--it isn't going to change the crap-vs-good ratio. No system ever has, or is likely to. Anyone who says otherwise about the PSP is blinded by its specs.
I would say that at this point in its life cycle, the PSP has a much more appealing game lineup than most other handhelds of the past have had at the same point in their respective life cycles. I don't know if that will still hold true in a few years, but for
now the PSP's general tendency to deliver good-quality handheld games is certainly worth celebrating!

I'm not complaining about the ports themselves--Pure is a better game than Fusion, no question. I was only worried about them crowding out the other games--the 2D and the 'quick fix' games that have been the handhelds' domain for a while now, which don't have a home on consoles anymore.
I understand your concern, but it never really bothered me. There are several really good 2D and "quick fix" games available now, including even a few that were released right at the system launch. There have always been lots of conversions on handhelds, but the PSP doesn't seem to be deviating too much from past history with balancing ports and original titles. People who don't recognize that the PSP has a good lineup of original games just aren't looking hard enough (or they are, and are deliberately trying to ignore it or cover it up).

But it looks like that won't happen--the DS and PSP have already carved out their roles pretty well (with some crossover), and it all looks rosy.
True.

Wait...you're saying that the PSP will save 2D? :lol
PSP won't "save" 2D because 2D doesn't need saving. There have been plenty of great 2D games in recent years, and several of them were made on the TV-based consoles (although most are shoot-em-up or fighting games).
The PSP has some great 2D games out now, and some really stellar-looking ones due for release in the near future. The games can really benefit from the high-resolution screen and higher color palette compared to other handhelds like GBA and DS. As long as developers are willing to put forth the proper effort, PSP has the potential to really grow and evolve handheld gaming, moving in a positive direction, for 2D as well as 3D games.
