Why is Bust a Groove so awesome?

"Beddy beddy beddy beddy beddy beddy good."

The same rap was used in the DDR song "Put Your Faith In Me", IIRC (that whole "causin' much mayhem, droppin' drama" thing).

This must be a public domain sample, as I've heard this used EVERYWHERE in Japan (games mostly).

BTW, BAG 1 has the best music by far thanks to the Avex artists. Dance Summit's gameplay kind of sucks but there are one or two okay tracks, but the backgrounds in that game are off the hizzy and amazing to look at.

I loved the first one, second one was kinda boring though. Thought the first one had much catchier music. The US version had much better mixes than the japanese version IMO.

I'm The Natural Playboy of Town,
and I am blowing every mind,
cause I'm one-of-a kind

Nothing beats lyrics like those :lol.

Really? I thought I kept my fingers on the pulse of Japanese music and games fairly well, but I guess not. :lol I'd be curious to know where else these lyrics have appeared. :)

There was some idiot on the G4 Forums that was Heat001 or something like that. He was a profound idiot.
Sadly I can't look at Heat without thinking of that idiot. :(

I liked the songs on Bust a Move 1 better than 2, but vs mode on 2 better than 1. Only have the JP versions; the US version's songs were pretty gross for the most part in 1 (did 2 come out here?).

I have the OST's though. Shorty + Kitty N ftw. I was "Shorty N" the uh..3 times I used my Dreamcast online. :)

The parappa pics reminds me...how did that series die so horribly with just one sequel?

The first one was legendary and the song about having to use the restroom with all the characters will live on forever (along with the chop chop onion stage). But man, the second game was terrible :(

Yeah... add that to the growing list of games that simply didn't need a sequel. Plus, it didn't support digital audio out, so you had to play Parappa 2 with RCA cables. The only level in Parappa 2 that I liked was the retro videogame one.

I watched Masaya Matsura bust some mad skills on Um Jammer Lammy at GDC back in like 2000, I think. That game me a whole new appreciation for that game, even though I didn't care much for the music.

Parappa 1 pretty much solidified itself as a classic in my mind after my first play.

Heat still rocks.

Holy shit, I made this same topic over at another forum, and got no replies. I'm glad so many people here can appreciate the series. My favorite thing about the games was the mo-cap, which was amazing for PS1, I don't remember seeing anything as impressive. I've always wanted to play DS2k1BAM, it just looked so damn cool when I saw this video. It seems like you guys that've played it in this thread, didn't like it... did you play it with the special controls? I was looking for more videos the other day, and the best one I found was this- http://youtube.com/watch.php?v=swBkLaoVh3o

I still want to play DS2k1.... any idea where I can find it?

Yes - most definitely - while the Japanese gets credit for not being censored (which does kill the U.S. version of Strike's music - since half the lyrics are bleeped out), of the songs that have different mixes between the two, the U.S. version has far better mixes. In particular, Shorty's stage is cool in the U.S. version. After hearing that, the Japanese version is almost unbearable. I also actually preferred the vocals in the U.S. version of Kitty-N's stage.

God I loved this game (Bust a Move 1)
Lent it to my brother and he lost it and tried to replace it with the U.S. version back in 97 (or 98 whenever it came out)

Bump because Bust a Groove is the best rhythm game ever

Thanks for the song, SSX

You can find the entire BAG2 soundtrack if you do a swift google btw

OMG, now it remind me lots of good memories i had playing this game with my brother, which now both of us are a dancer, i havn't play the thrid one, but the first 2 were amazing... i wish they port them to PSP or NDS (probably won't tho :()

Oh now i actually remember i bought the Soundtrack for this game, its a Bust-A-Groove 1+2 Sound Tracks, it has all the lyrics and all songs from BAG 1+2 Japanese Version

I loved the Robo-Z final fight music sooo much, and the endgame piano version when you beat it... *sigh*

best dancing game ever. :D

No, no you do not...Dance Summit sucked so badly it isn't even funny. Terrible game.

Kitty-N basically had the stripper moves down, all that was missing was the pole. Hiro's the best, with the best theme ever, lol.

I was having a ride down memory lane with my good pal, and we came across the subject of Bust a Groove, and decided that these are awesome games. And what we say goes, mind you.

Great, Fun Characters

Excellent Music

Fun Gameplay

It's so blatantly obvious that these games trump all these third-rate rhythm games out there. Samba De Amigo, Donkey Konga, Technic Beat...the list goes on, really. I would re-buy these games but they're freakin expensssssiveeee

I need my Heat and Robo-Z

I still prefer 1 > 2, mind you

Bust a Move 2 Dance Tengoku mix freaking ruled
you need to play the japanese versions, better music for certain characters, most of it is in english anyways, including the wierd ass "host"

I have the green cased version i heard it came in many colors

Why on earth is she wearing a cricket box down in her groin area?

That's Kelly you schmuck!

She dresses as a baby.

And she has a vagina.

I think it explains itself.

Holy crap, I was just sorting through my PSX collection in storage, and I found an unopened copy of this game among the rest. I actually bought this when it released eons ago, but never even got around to playing it...ever.

I guess I'll finally throw it in tomorrow night. :)

Edit: Funny seeing ads for Coolboarders 3 and Rally Cross 2 inside. CB3 was so rad in the pre-SSX era! Avalanche was awesome!

I loved Bust A Groove 1, never played 2 since it wasn't released in Europe.

Anything is fine with me, if I'm with my EZ-Mouse.
Doesn't matter how young I am, havin' fun is what it's all about.
Over the rainbow and seven seas, wherever winds may blow,
Gotta eat in a Wonderland, after dessert let's go.

My mama tells me everyday, not to move so fast across the room.
She's worried I'll break something,
but I'm at the age where i do what I wanna do.

I know I'm your baby, like you keep saying.
I wanna be free. Don't treat me like a child.
I'm never changin' as I grow older.
Forever the same, Shorty and the EZ-Mouse.

TUNE.

I also wanted to tap Frida, but that didn't last long when the gay genes kicked in.

Everybody knows that he's the one
something something Second to none
When you begin to think he's over and done
Ain't no stoppin' him
The heat is on

I prefer BAG2 Heat song to BAG

I remember reading that the ending CG's were removed for the US Bust a Groove 2... among other things. Did anyne play the US version of BaG 2 and like it better than the first?

I played BAG2, I prefer 1 over 2...the Robo-Z battle was wack in 2, not to mention the "song" that plays *retch*

I loved this game! Shorty is so the best! Sadly though I never bought it which I regret instead I rented it many many times. Stupid stupid stupid! >_<;
