Why is it that most TV shows are filmed in Canada?

And I've noticed that quite a few actors/actresses are from canada as well, what makes it such a popular place to shoot?

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.
They Can film it there cheap, and it kinda look like American towns.

And the streets are paved in Maple Syrup, and we all know how thos hollywood types love maple syrup .

For X-Files, it helped with location of a lot of the episodes. That's why so many episodes had something take place in the woods, yet when they moved the show to LA sound stages, no more woods :(

Most?

Inexpensive = popular

Vancouver has a pretty big industry. Shamefully known as "Hollywood North"

WTF, the local media always refers to Toronto as Hollywood North. Regardless, the term is mega dumb anyways.

Some healthy tax breaks in Ontario (and I presume BC) doesn't hurt either.

The movie/TV business was down in Toronto the last couple years for a few reasons (much of it due to the SARS scare), but it looks to be rebounding big time this year.

Here are the show that film here in BC right now, well at least the ones I remember. And a lot have Canadians in their cast such as Kristen Kruek.
Battlestar Galactica
Dead Zone
L Word
Stargate Atlantis
Stargate SG-1
Smallville
Andromeda

Of those, I was on Smallville, Dead Zone (which was my first ever), and L Word. Been on all of those twice.

I never met Mia Kirschner :(

Mia Kirschner is HOT.

And it looks like I may end up being a Canadian citizen in a year or so, Mike. I have friends in Vancouver that have convinced me to get my ass out of what will no doubt be a landfill for our kind Canadian overlords one day. Can't say it took much of a sales job on their part.

Did you get any lines?

mmmmmmmmmmmia

I've been infatuated with her ever since Exotica. Damn, she's such a fine hottie that gets better looking with age. I've seen The L Word a few times, and she was the only reason why.

Hehe, she was sexy as hell in Exotica. As a Canadian I'm proud to call Mia one of our own. Just wish she was my own.

A horrible mistake in my opinion. The feel of the show changed due to the move.
