Why is Naughty Dog Causing Outrage !?

SmashJT calling on others' grift

Thank god someone else pointed that out, lmao. People need to stop giving that guy views.

But yeah, YouTube clickbait, that's all the original video was/is. There's a LOT of it on the platform, and a LOT of people watch it, apparently.

You have to have terminally online Shapiro brain to not think these games look great.
I have no doubt that presentation of naughty dog games will be S tier. They have their tech down. But its obvious that their output/workflow has been in decline. They developed like 4 great games on ps3? and expansions, and multiplayer modes with updates, in a famous for being dificult to develop platform. then 2 games for ps4 and now...0 for ps5.

There seems to be two camps....

1) ND is perfect and nothing they do is wrong

2) The studio went to shit after Neil Cuckman took over and all they've done is re-release the same shit for years and they are getting a free pass despite that fact

People who fall into option 2 are not really looking to give them any credit for finally trying something new (with the bald chick/man game), whether justified or not.
Then there is a third camp which I belong to that believes ND are not perfect but very talented devs who make great games.

This person is just riding the outrage wave against anything the internet decides to hate.

Well, they basically did nothing during the PS5 generation. A remake with barely any changes and a remaster, I wouldn't call that anything meaningful.

And in the middle of all that emptiness, all we got was a poorly presented teaser for a project that turned into a meme (like "Krillin in space") and a YouTube record for dislikes. So yeah, not exactly the best moment. My strategy would be to let The Last of Us rest until people start to miss it, bring back Uncharted, and only show the new bald woman IP again when there's a solid gameplay reveal that really hits hard and clearly shows what they're trying to sell

Please don't post this woman's videos. She's a grifter like many are. Going on about censorship in games and then goes and does a paid promotion for Capcom of Onimusha 2 Remastered when it's censored as well. Then deletes peoples comments that called her out on it

you mean summary ? if someone could create it with AI , i would be pleased

  • Naughty Dog was once considered the premier gaming studio, revered for its prestige, decade-spanning influence, and ability to dominate awards and fan expectations.
  • Fans' excitement now often turns into skepticism, with controversy over canceled projects, high-profile hires, AI pitches, and PR-heavy leadership choices.
  • The studio rose to fame via Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, before shifting to emotionally intense narratives like The Last of Us, hailed as artistic milestones.
  • Internal shifts began surfacing: Amy Hennig departed under unclear circumstances, and leadership under Neil Druckmann emphasized maturity and gravitas in games like Uncharted 4.
  • During The Last of Us Part II's 2020 development, extensive crunch culture and studio burnout were exposed; despite critical acclaim, public reaction was split and surpassing marketing strategy.
  • Communication became more controlled: PR and curated media replaced openness, and the cancellation of TLOU Online under the guise of narrative focus raised questions about priorities.
  • The hiring of comedy writer Mike Ducker sparked backlash, with critics dubbing him a "culture‑war grenade" and reflecting a perceived shift from gamecraft to optics—and even controversies around AI storytelling.
  • Online response to Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was intensely negative: dislikes, disabled comments, product placements, and backlash against its diverse, unconventional lead sparked fears of "woke" branding over substance.
  • The culmination: leadership style, filtered communication, canceled projects, PR control, and identity shifts eroded player trust—Naughty Dog risked no longer speaking the same language as its longtime fanbase.

Because so far this gen we have had PS5 versions of Uncharted 4, lost legacy, Last of Us and Last of Us 2. Then to top ot off they show about 10 seconds of gameplay from their next game that may not even come out till 2027. From a prolific studio like Naughty Dog, that's poor.

Not watching her vid (due to that grift vid she did ages ago that made me LMAO), but Naughty Dog has been a colossal disappointment this gen, and I don't need a vid to tell me that.
Many such cases.

They should have done another smaller Lost Legacy title or something instead of the pointless remasters.

If you look at their games history they figured out how to pump out tons of Jak games on PS2, tons of UC games on PS3 + LOU (and that was during a gen where everyone said making games using Cell was a pain in the ass), and for PS4 released a couple UC games and LOU2 and even a LOU 1 remaster.

When PS5 came around, it's all remakes/remasters so far 5 years into PS5, zero new UC games except a remaster of UC4/LL, and perhaps in 2027 (took a guess there) the new Intergalactic might be out. At that time PS6 will be around the corner. It's doubtful another UC or LOU3 will be out by then.

There's also possibility Intergalactic comes out after PS6 launches.

It's crazy compared to their old gens. You'll either get Intergalactic + remasters/remakes for PS5. Or if Intergalactic is a PS6 territory game, the entire PS5 era is remakes/remasters.

Just ask yourself how many years they keep regurgitating the same shit. Most of devs already move on to next projects while ND seems to be more focused in smelling LoU farts more than their own new project(a single one that toom how many years to come).

Tlou2 is great game thats being hated on for way too much it should. That was the time when weirdoes started going after Neil( I do think he has some shitty opinions under his belt, especially going with Anita Sarkeesian).
I don't understand why people are mad about them making it explicitly clear that they harbor real, burning contempt for a huge chunk of their fanbase. I mean, just get over it and get excited for next product already.

Because they've spent 5 years shoveling the same shit!

I was about to respond with "TLoU 2 is amazing, what are you talking about?" until I realized that came out FIVE years ago.

TLOU2 is a great game if you like a completely pointless story development, since if Ellie did absolutely nothing after Joel died the final outcome would be exactly the same.
not so sure about this. i mean for one thing, i imagine that playing guitar has now become much more challenging...

Oh yes, god forbid a studio supports one of the best games they ever made after its released, and allow internet neckbeard having nerds tell them how they should feel...

Remakes of remakes DO NOT COUNT!
Oh yes, God forbid consumers want something new from a critically acclaimed studio and an internet neckbeard nerd shills for the studio by gaslighting the fans by telling them how they should feel for wanting more creative and consistent output. The facts speak for themselves!

I think her videos are well researched and informative. She is very well spoken and her critique surrounding Naughty Dog and Druckmann is done fairly well.

I do wish that she didn't have to rely on the clickbait-ey titles, though.

Naughty Dog used to release games every 2-3 years with industry leading graphics. Ever since PS5 launched, they have done zilch. Just profit farming TLOU and they released a shit season 2 tv series.

The issue here is you are referring to a time frame where lots of AAA teams released games every 3 years.

Look at Rockstar. PS3 gen we got GTAIV, RDR1 and GTAV.

PS4 gen, we got RDR2...

What you are talking about is not a "Naughty Dog" issue..

Even teams that used to be yearly, are no longer doing that, look at Ubisoft's top IP, AC is no longer a yearly release. So this thing isn't really solely based on 1 team, that is no longer the norm to put out games ever 2 to 3 years by MOST TEAMS in terms of AAA releases.

Profiting from The Last Of Us is based on Sony the publisher, ND does not own the IP...the choice to remaster, is a Sony one, the choice to make a show is a Sony one and isn't going to stop any game from releasing.

So, they are working on Intergalactic, which means clearly something is being made by them as it doesn't take a whole team to remaster The Last Of Us 2 or even remake The Last Of Us 1.

Thats like thinking GTA Trilogy is delaying GTA 6...

this gen will have ND only making remakes/remasters.... UC Collection, LOU Part 1, LOU2 Remastered.
? Uncharted Collection was made by Blue Point games...

The Last Of Us part 1 remake only took 3 years and most of the team was working on Intergalactic , as lots of outside studios worked on the Remake...

The Last Of Us 2 remastered isn't stopping any new game as this is something that takes mere months sir..
There's no guarantee Intergalactic will even release this gen since there's no date. If it goes into PS6 territory
I don't see it not releasing as Sony is no longer showing games deep years in advance

Its listed as a PS5 game on their site

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/intergalactic-the-heretic-prophet/

Remaster on PS6? Likely, but with how Sony has shown games recently, I see literally zero evidence it will be some PS6 game (like launch day first time for everyone on PS6 ala Breath Of The Wild)

That is very likely a 2026, 2027 PS5 game and then later remastered on PS6 or something.

Sony is likely waiting until Ghost 2 has released to start marketing their 2026 line up, but that is what we saw when they started marketing Ghost 2 right after Death Stranding 2 released..

I meant the 2022 collection which is UC4/LL remasters. Googling it, it says ND and Iron Galaxy did it.

All in all, ND's games output has slowed down a lot vs their previous gens where they were pumping out more standalone games and not remasters/remakes.

They crushed it during the PS3 gen with 3 UC games and LOU. And that was on PS3 which was supposed to be a complicated system to work on.

UC 1 2007
UC 2 2009
UC 3 2011
LOU 2013

And just one more year later in 2014, released LOU Left Behind DLC game on PS3/PS4 and LOU Remastered PS4.

Guerrilla Games
Horizon Zero Dawn -> Horizon Forbidden West (sequel)
5 years

Santa Monica
God of War 2018 -> God of War Ragnarok (sequel)
5 years

Polyphony Digital
Gran Turismo Sport -> Gran Turismo 7 (sequel!)
5 years

Sucker Punch
Ghost of Tsushima -> Ghost of Yotei (sequel)
5 years

Bluepoint
Demon's Souls -> ?
At least 6 years

Media Molecule
Dreams -> ?
At least 6 years

Bend
Days Gone -> ?
At least 7 years

Naughty Dog
The Last of Us 2 -> Intergalactic (completely new IP, not a sequel which is a lot easier to make)
6 years?
"What the hell are they doing in Naughty Dog? Druuuuuuuuuuuuckmann!!!"

Which part of fanbase and contempt about what? Some babies first game of thrones like experience and thinking Neil is Mannys self insert? Lol

That is still most of the industry though, the thing you are saying pretty much applies to most AAA developers...

You can copy and paste this argument about a lot of developers, but you are arguing about something that is happening all over the industry, not merely just ND.

I'm not even sure why you didn't realize that lol

I'm sure you are not new to gaming, so...we are not going to pretend as if all AAA teams are just pumping out yearly games or something odd like this...

Because ND forgot how to make fun games. I would take a new Uncharted over this intergalactic crap any time.
Besides, they have gone woke.

They did not cause that much of an outrage when it was revealed that, during TLOU2 development, druckman forced his animators to go on rotten.com to watch beheading/mutilations videos so they can make the in game violence even more gritty and realistic, which is textbook abuse from a toxic boss, so im betting this umpteenth youtube grifter is wrong and a cunt.

Because they used to release a great action game every couple of years and since 2017 they have done absolutely fuck all worth buying.
