Why no PlayStation Puck?

Have been playing a lot more of my portal lately as my ps5 pro is basement bound and I have been trying to at least be present In the house while my wife's watching her shows or on the phone at least we're in the same room and chatting, but while it's a good device it isn't perfect.

So why hasn't PlayStation released a Puck version of the Portal built for 2nd TV's etc? All it needs is an Ethernet port, and a good WiFi antenna. It doesn't need a full is just mimic the portals features except allow 1440p/120 or 4k streaming and sell it for 149.99. I think it would be a great device and seller as part of their "pillars" of PlayStation.

Also why does the ps5 limit the streaming output to 1080p currently? I'm sure the hardware is capable of 1440/4k streaming internally if my older desktop can handle it.

Just curious as to why they haven't discussed this!?

Would you be interested in such a device??

Sony tried that already.

You could natively play Vita or digital PSP games. And stream from a PS4. They clearanced them out in under two months.

Yeah I remember that I think it was ahead of its time. The portal has been very successful and something g half the cost that can just be another accessory. That device was mainly used to push their tv service.

What the puck you on about? Why not actually spend quality time with the wife watching TV together and then have a night or two on the PS5.
Wtf!!!

No!

The TV is his. She belongs in the kitchen incase he wants snacks.
If she's good then she can have a portable TV for the kitchen so long as it doesn't interfere with her main purpose.

Kids these days and their crazy ideas of being together and sharing "quality time".
Absolute nonsense.

They tried. One day when streaming is better and hardware becomes no longer financially viable, they'll try again.

Well I suppose he would rather stick an ethernet cable in a portal then stick anything in his wife.

Surprised so many are pushing against this, its not a bad idea allowing you to play PS5 anywhere in the house with a TV at the fraction of the cost of buying multiple PS5's. $150 is too high though, would need to be $50 with no controller (you'd probably already have controllers hanging around from the PS5 anyway). I use my Portal for this purpose, but I do play on Portal in rooms with a TV present so having the ability to play on TV would be preferrable.

Maybe your WiFi just sucks, OP. I have my PS5 in the basement hard-lined the router and my Portal works fine upstairs from it. It didn't work for shit when I had Xfinity/Comcast though. It started working perfectly when I got fiber optic internet.
