Well, as the title says I'm just wondering what is Wide Screen format DVD movie's native resolution.

Does Wide Screen format, actually have more pixel data than normal full screen DVDs when shown on wide-screen TV, filled up to the left and right - or actually less than full-screen size (720x486 ntsc, or 640x480 square pixel dimension), just zoomed in?

Just wondering...

Thanks in advance,

widescreen 16:9 resolution at vertical 480i/p is 853x480.
Of course not every movie can take advantage of it.
Movies will be cropt in various ways if the dvd movies aspect ratio is not 16:9 resulting in loss of resolution in most cases.

A widesceen anamorphic movie with the ideal aspect ratios will look 33% better/highes res on a tv that can take advantage of the extra resolution than on a standard tv.
The not so ideal aspect ratios will look x < 33% better on a tv that supports anamrphic widescreen.
