One of the things I have enjoyed most with Nintendo Switch Online are the authentic controllers. To me, they are really essential for the authenticity of the experience.

They seemed to start as bit of a gimmick, with a mechanic that docks the controllers to the OG Switch joycon rail for sync and charging. Nintendo quickly realised this idea wouldn't scale to other controllers, and switched to a simple, future proof USB-C connection for all its following classic controllers - like the recently unveiled GameCube controller.

This leaves the NES controller as the odd one out, the one not compatible with Switch 2. Will Nintendo fix their mistake and release an USB-C NES controller? Could we even get the dogbone? Will Nintendo ever let us hide the stuff at the sides of the screen?

I thought that image was fake when I first saw it. Never looked at the nes switch 1 controllers before, what on earth were they thinking only letting them charge like that lmao.

I guess you can get a joycon 1 charge grip accessory if you want to charge them for Switch 2 use.

But hopefully they will release a usb-c one for people that want them.

It'd be cool if they just added magnets and let them snap on to the Switch 2 to charge imo.

But either way they should definitely make a new run that also features USB-C. I wouldn't be surprised to see that.

Probably, because threads like this prove that Nintendo fans will happily shell out money for whatever redundant, low effort, nostalgia-bait crap they want to regurgitate into the market.

(No offense.)

Reminder they already made a USB compatible nes controller for the nes classic, so yeah, no need to lose sleep over the bone

This has not yet happened for any other console or publisher.

The MegaDrive NSO controller is the best controller I have every used. The dpad is absolute perfection.

On topic : wow, that charging method is incredibly dumb.
