One of the things I have enjoyed most with Nintendo Switch Online are the authentic controllers. To me, they are really essential for the authenticity of the experience.
They seemed to start as bit of a gimmick, with a mechanic that docks the controllers to the OG Switch joycon rail for sync and charging. Nintendo quickly realised this idea wouldn't scale to other controllers, and switched to a simple, future proof USB-C connection for all its following classic controllers - like the recently unveiled GameCube controller.
This leaves the NES controller as the odd one out, the one not compatible with Switch 2. Will Nintendo fix their mistake and release an USB-C NES controller? Could we even get the dogbone? Will Nintendo ever let us hide the stuff at the sides of the screen?
