I am hyped for this, looks like a great cast and hopefully walks the line like Dr who does where it is suitable for the whole family but can go terrifying, give the kids nightmares you know lol

It's like the goddammed Charlies Angels in here :p

We got the.....I'll reserve the word hottie lest they are underage...brunette, blonde, and redhead, an older dude, the damsel in distress is a beardless boy...I'm in!

Warwick looks really good, nice to be back in this world. Is Ron Howard directing?

From Collider:

"The newly released trailer certainly points in that direction. The Willow series is helmed by Jonathan Kasdan, with Stephen Woolfenden set to direct the first two episodes. Ron Howard who directed the original film is also onboard as an executive producer."

Ron Howard is probably executive producer just by virtue of being the director of the original. He most likely has zero input on this series.

Will Vonkar be in it? Any of the little people from the original? I just looked up the Meegosh actor and saw that he passed on about 10 years ago. :(

Looks good, saw Willow at the theatre when I was 8 with a friend and have loved it ever since. Christian Slater could be good as a Mad Mardigan type character. Can't wait!

Would have been cool to see Bryce Dallas Howard direct an episode, she gave us some of the best Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett episodes.
Do we know she hasn't? Do we have a full episode director list?

She does good work on mando, hard to say how much is her specifically versus their production machine though. I hope they stick with more physical stuff than the Globe or whatever that CGI dome thing is. Trailer is full of CGI though, so I'm not optimistic. HotD seems to lean heavily on physical sets (or they hide is REALLY well) and RoP, well, no one is gonna touch their CG budget :p Willow is going into a pool full of sharks, I hope they keep it light and family fun.

It's not on her IMDB profile, but you never know.

Light and family fun is what it needs to be, I'd hope they wouldn't go all serious with it. As long as they have some good physical sets I think it will be alright, it doesn't need the grandeur of the other two.

They filmed a lot on location in Wales (where they filmed the original).

Huge Willow fan. One of my favorite films. I'm cautious about this, it would break my fucking heart if Disney runs this IP in the mud. After Obi-Wan, which was awful on all accounts, I'm kinda nervous they will. But the trailer looks good and it seems to be a lot of fun call backs to the original movie. James Horner and Val Kilmer will be sorely missed though.

One reaction I’ve heard is that it’s just really dumb.

Willow is really dumb....it is a lot of fun, but it is really dumb.

I love fantasy so I will enjoy a really dumb fantasy. And I enjoyed some parts of Rings of Power, and it was majorly dumb.

It’s dumb to people who have waited 30+ years for a sequel to the original movie. Jury’s out if it is worse than Shadow Moon or not.

This is bummer news if true.

Is it dumb but fun, exciting, adventuresome, and thrilling despite lacking some internal consistency and character logic?

Or is it dumb because it is pandering, ham fisted, agenda driven, nonsense that spits into the face of the original(which is a DUMB movie but fits my former category)?

If it's this I will never forgive Disney. But given Disney it probably is most likely this ☹️ but I want to go in with an open mind but honestly, there are not many of these revivals of past hits that has worked. Cobra Kai is the only one I can think of that I've actually liked.
