I've been using Winamp since the 1.x days.

AOL is not the mega popular online service it used to be. So it's not like Nullsoft is forever connected to the dialup service that never worked right... not that many people use AOL anymore. :D

Me be using Winamp from back in the day too. I visit Justin Frankel's blog several times a week to see what he's inventing ever since he left AOL.

I'd say Google should look into the man that singlehandedly shaped online music as it is today. From how we listen to it to how we attain it. Now he works on how we make it. Jesusonic 4-Life

I didn't mean the service. I meant the company.

Winamp was my first mp3 player too... but now I use amaroK, iTunes, or plain old WMP(yeah, I don't really do music in windows anymore) depending on the platform.

So, without sounding like too much of a knowledgeless dolt, is this offering an an improvement for me? I'm on a 4 channel surround sound system.

the whole 5.1 'surround' name is a joke on the fact that winamp just moved up to version number 5.1. the decoding engine hasn't changed one bit.
