Wind Waker has one awesome soundtrack

It's like a Zelda remix, but so much more at the same time. I mean, the main theme itself is awesome, but Dragon Roost Island and Tower of Gods/King Appearance.

Super Mario Sunshine also has a good sountrack. The game maybe had its problems, but the soundtrack kicked major ass.

No, it doesn't you imbecile.

Except Outset Island, Dragonroost Island and the boss theme in the Tower of the Gods

You know what game has a better soundtrack? Final Fantasy Tactics. God, what a great soundtrack. Even the song names were amazing--the track "Bloody Excrement" for example.

Oh, most definitely. I think I actually liked FF: Tactics score more than some of the main series. Masaharu Iwata and Hitoshi Sakimoto ftw!

Word. Still listen to that soundtrack all the time. The music really stands on its own, apart from the game.

I don't remember much about Wind Waker's music (although I do remember Dragon Roost Island and the main sailing music) so I guess that's a good excuse to replay it.

I give you legendary hero remix :P

so I guess you're playing this game now?

Yeah, I was reticent at first because of the bad rep. this game has around here, but you know, I finally realised that GAF is mostly full of it, so I tried. And it's really good. No, it's not OOT level, but it's still a lot better than most of the game on every console.

All the Zelda elements are there, even more there considering the chart add a lot of complexity over the puzzle (like, you can't go there on the island, need this item, etc..). You quickly understand what you'll need to do if you played past Zelda, and that's the problem concerning the difficulty - if they always keep the same item in the series, the puzzle are gonna be pretty stale before long.

But other than that, it's top notch. The gameplay is there, the counter system is amazingly fun, the story and characters are all memorable (who wasn't surprised during the two revelations?). The sailing never was boring to me, because I followed what they told me to do, but I was also stopping at every island/tower/submarine or whatever on my way. And when I hit the other wind god, things got pretty fast on the sailing part.

I thought the intro was really well done. From the music to the drawings, it had some a unique, memorable style. The soundtrack as a whole was weaker than the average Zelda (I thought the overworld sailing theme was really boring and uninspired -- a watered down combination of OoT and LTTP's overworld themes).

Yeah it is. So have you finished it? The ending is way better than OoT.

Super Mario Sunshine has the worst soundtrack to a true Mario game ever.

EVER.

Every single stage was pretty much the same. The only ones that were memorable were Delfino Island and the no-waterpack level theme.

I mean, it's not a BAD soundtrack, just the worst in a Mario game. After the amazing Mario 64 soundtrack, where every track was memorable, this was just.. UGH.

I'm not finished yet. I'm currently at the second sage temple. The first temple (with the Rito girl) was well done. The puzzles weren't too complex but at the same time, they weren't too easy. Just enough so you think you're stupid not having thought about that yet (thinking about the part where you had to turn these two blobs to stone and put them on a switch).

I have heard a lot of things about the ending, looking forward to it.

Wind Waker was such an awesome game until I started playing it. The intro was sweet, the feeling of sailing was awesome, but the more i played it the more I realized it was just a shitty boring game with awesome production value.

Mario 64 soundtrack was amazing? I only remember the Metal Mario theme and Bowser stages theme. I also remember it was re-using the same theme for many levels.

Is this like when bad can mean good?

Opening thing and Dragon Roost island aside, the worst Zelda soundtrack of the series. And Sunshine is the same, sadly.

sunshine is way worse than WW's soundtrack.

Damn fuckin' right it was amazing.

You don't remember the castle theme?

Fucking Dire Dire Docks, the BEST water stage theme EVER?

The snow level?

QUIT GAMING!

Yeah, it was.

Bob Omb/Big Whomp's castle
Jolly Roger Bay
The flying music
Bowser's levels

They were all awesome.

Come on, the dungeons, while too easy, were fun too.

Ok I remember the Jolly Roger Bay and Flying music... but I can't say the Bobomb stages had this memorable feeling to them. They were just the... first level you played. Same could be said about the castle theme. It became redundant and boring.

PARADOX??

You = a minority.

I can hum the Bob Omb Battlefield theme right now.

The dungeons were uninspired and boring for the more part other than the co-op one with the bird chick, that was much like the rest of the game not up to it's full potential but interesting none the less.

If Wind Waker was harder, it would be my game of the generation.

Amazing piece of software.

The fetch quest was fun btw.

the dungeons were definitely worse than OoT and MM.

Donkey Kong Country says hi! :)

But yes, Mario 64 had an awesome soundtrack, and Dire Dire Docks is amazing. (and Metal Mario :lol)

This is true, but I still had fun with them... more fun than I had with the rest of the game.

oh yeah the dungeons were still good. It's just that they felt dumbed down somehow compared to the N64 dungeons. I never got stuck in WW's dungeons while I had problems with several OoT and MM's dungeons. btw the best Zelda dungeon ever was voted Stone Tower here on GAF about 2 years ago.

yea, i loved this game all around, will play again once tp is coming out. i need some hype nintnedo, release a new trailer please!

Wow, been a while since anybody mentioned Wind Waker.

The game was very close to being great. Just needed difficulty up'd by 2-3 notches and got rid of the collect-a-thon at the end.

I liked the art style but disliked the re-design of characters in that art style. Would have been interesting to see an adult Link with that art style.

pretty much agree with that. I also wanted more landmass to explore, and more towns. Windhill Island was the only "real" town.

why not? One of few things that WW did better than OoT is definitlely the ending. And then I mean after the final boss.

The ending cutscene was ok, but
the bubble staff credits didn't do it for me. In previous Zelda games, much of the ending is contained in the "peek around the world" during the staff credits. In WW you got a static screen with the same music as in the title screen.

ok well I understand that. But there was still more
footage after the credits
;)

TP will take the title of best Zelda soundtrack if most of the pieces are orchestrated.

I just want to say that just having orchestrations won't make it the best. There are several instances where I've heard midis that kick the shit out of orchestral versions, and vice versa. The important thing is the actual compositions, not the instruments. :)

And yes, I agree with the
bubble ending
being pretty weak.
