Hey All,

I know most of you are car buffs, so I thought this would be a good place to ask...

I have a 2005 Nissan Murano, and yesterday, while getting gas, I decided I would clean my back windshield. So I took the squeegee and soaked up the back windshield, and then flipped it over and used the squeegee part to clean off the liquid... Anyway, after I did this, I noticed that my damn windshiled had some scratches in it... They are not deep because I can rub my thumb over it and it doesnt get caught. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get them out? Anyone know of any windshield scratch remover kit or any home remedies I can try?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I have no home remedies but I do have a warning... be VERY careful about considering having cracks in your windshield professionally fixed.

Many company's(including insurance company's) say they can fix these, however there is ALWAYS the potential for a "crack out" (The crack will grow larger during the repair process... because the process I believe the repair process involves first inject air or something in to the crack).

About 3 cars ago I had a small crack in my windshield... Geico advertised that they could have these fixed for you for free as part of your coverage(Which the minor disclaimer that they weren't repsonsible for crack outs), so I took them up on their offer... had a professional company come in while I was at work and take a look at it... sure enough... crack out. Ended up having to get the whole thing replaced... out of pocket.

Be careful.

If you don't want a DIY remedy:

http://www.safelite.com

I used Safelite for a crack I had in my front windshield, and they did a good job fixing that, but I didnt think they repaired just minor scratches....

I dont know, I guess I will go to pepboys this weekend, and see what they have...

The folks at PepBoys are likely to break your windshield and say that it was going to happen anyway (yes, I have a hate/hate relationship with those guys). Trek on over to Safelite and get it done right.

No you misunderstood me. I wasnt going to go to pepboys to have them do it. I was going to go over there and see if they sold anything that I could use to DIY...

I will call safelite if I cant get it out myself... I mean these are such light scratchs I didnt think Safelite could fix that. I mean its not a crack, its just scratched...

I'm also interested in a DIY solution.

Drove through a nasty storm driving back from Vegas after New Years. Rubber on the driver side wiper came off slightly and left a light scratch arch.
