Okay turns out I lied. I did end up watching the other two. Then the first one again.

Speaking of the first one, it starts with "You can't just walk into a store!".... is it because you're too wide to fit in the door?

It's okay, I'm allowed to make fat jokes. I'm still fat myself.

I picked up on the theme of Snap Assist being mentioned across all these vids. Maybe I'm missing what that is... but you could snap in Win 10... and presumably lots of other OSes. The guys in the third vid are talking up virtual desktops... yeah pretty sure that's available everywhere and probably showed up as a native Windows thing kind of late. I deal with some Windows Server installs that have ghetto third party virtual desktops. But again the virtual desktops were definitely a thing in Win 10.

Back to Snap Assist. Literally what all these people want is another monitor. You don't have to do your fucking computer work on a laptop on your fucking coffee table or in a Starbucks ya fucking weirdos!

The cowards turned off the comments.

A few things:
  1. Since it's not one of the standard GAF reactions, here is my reaction to the first two videos: 🤢🤮
  2. Third video (the one with the dorky science twins) is not horrible -- unlike the first two videos, they don't shove the inclusivity crap in your face.
  3. Tams Tams you know damn well why they turned off the comments 😂 Although I would love to know the like/dislike ratio on these videos.
I'm separating out my last point. "Inclusivity" as an abstract/universal concept isn't actually a bad thing. Depending on the context, you do end up getting a richer experience from it. However, there are some reasons why inclusivity as an actual social movement (with associated policy prescriptions) in 2022 Western countries is a horrible thing:
  • It's not organic, it's forced.
  • It sometimes encourages hurtful behavior (e.g., the obese chick in the first video -- no, woman, obesity is NOT a good thing) and as a society we've cornered ourselves into a situation where you can't even prescribe a solution to people's hurtful behavior in the name of "inclusivity" (e.g., you can't tell the fat chick to work out)
  • Forced inclusivity can sometimes HURT, instead of help, the group of people into which the inclusivity is being forced upon; it breaks group cohesion
  • "Inclusivity" is tied to other concepts like "equity," all of which, in our society in 2022, are tied to politically Marxist/socialist ideas. But the irony of the whole thing is that inclusivity is often used to SELL stuff -- in this very case it's Microsoft (who's trying to sell you an Operating System) featuring people who themselves are trying to sell something (whether it's an actual product like "fat clothes" or "chick's colorful basketball sneakers," or a service like "science-based informative entertainment"). And ultimately, that's the thing -- from these corporations, inclusivity is not an altruistic concept, it's a cold calculated business move to get better Public Relations, and sell products to untapped markets.
Speaking of "untapped," I wouldn't go anywhere near that fat chick in the first video 😂

Just fix the damn bug that won’t let you simply pick a running app on the task bar!!!

Can people please just start adding just a bit more context to what a video is about? Threads like this are such a waste of timr. I'm noy gonna watch your videos just cause you posted them.

Tell me what they're about or don't make a thread.
I would generally agree with you that sometimes people on this forum like to just post context-less pictures or videos. But to be fair in this case:

- The thread title clearly says what the videos are about
- The video titles in the thumbnails say what the videos are about
- If those two things above fail, each video is only about 1 minute long; it takes even much less than one minute to get the idea of what they're about by watching the first 20 seconds or so.

Seems like a targeted advertisement to people who would buy a mac.

No need to target people who would already buy a PC so targeting these sorts of people who normally buy Apple products makes sense to me.

Ultra cringe aside, the championed snap assist doesn't even work half the time.

Hell they added a clock to the taskbar of the second monitor just last week! They consider that a feature, lmao.

Who is this for, anyway? When has someone actually stared out out the window thinking "hmmm, what operating system should I use on the computer I use to create a website"

I am so happy to know that Microsoft isn't phobic against the obese and racially mixed bi-pedal beings. I have been wondering their stance on this truly cumbersome issue...

Still going to use W10 for the time being.

Kinda???
It’s a bad implementation of what MS thinks an ad from Apple would be like!

This is targeting Americans and developers! Brand awareness is what they call in marketing!
Slap some “young people” try to make your product seem cool and innovative…

by looking at the comments… didn’t work.

I'll save you some time. It's manufactured annoyance. The videos are some of the least egregious forms of "diversity" advertising I've ever seen. There are a ton of shitty, forced ads out there in this style but there's really nothing here.

OP saw something that included poc and an obese woman with the word diversity and figured this would make a good thread to shit on these minute long ads and get some e-atta boys in the form of reactions because "geehyuck inclusive diversity!". Of course it also gives everyone the comfortability to make disparaging remarks about obese people, because that's what well adjusted adults do.

Parody of actual AJUMP23
It seems weird to try and sell something by appealing to made up injustices.

There are women's basketball shoes all over the US. There have been for years, and that girls premise is just flat out untrue. There are also clothing lines that cater to larger people, but normally not in a store.

That's marketing for ya.

You'd think an OS would be something anyone would understand as a blanket tool for anyone, but the reason why tech companies do this is obviously to cater to the groups of people who feel alienated and butter them up. And in modern times, it's any group that feels excluded when in reality they arent.

This will make them think MS or FB or Google or whomever actually really cares about them when in reality the product itself is the exact same whether it's a 90 year old oil baron using a PC for the first time or a 9 year old selling digital cups of lemonade.

You'll always get this in tech a lot more than other industries since anyone can use a program and it's monetized.

You'd think a grocery store chain which serves anyone would try to market to different inclusivity groups hoping for extra sales but they dont because when it comes to food people and companies arent dense enough to get swayed with patronizing marketing when all anyone wants to do is buy groceries. But in tech, people love the attention.

One things for sure. You wont see a jet turbine maker marketing their product to socio-demographic groups.

For the very first time since 1996, I'm planning to switch my computing practices from traditional desktops to Apple's new M1 craze. The Mac Studio is just too good to skip spec and price wise, let alone the form factor. My only concern is if I ever decide to play around with Unreal Engine in the future when it's been blocked on Apple products.

In short, fuck x86 and everything should just move on to ARM.

Mega corps co opting these types of social movements cheapen them, because they are turned into goods to be sold. It doesn’t look genuine, it’s not actually doing anything, and obesity isn’t something the vast majority of obese people are born with, not to mention it’s highly targeted to the female body which… ok, not to mention it’s plain unhealthy, and considering this is mostly an USA thing, where tv shows have disclaimers for tobacco depiction, it’s hilarious how being obese is now something that people just have to be cool with it, because you know…

Anyway, it’s a fucking OS, it’s not made with fat people, short people, tall people, or ugly ass people in mind. It’s made for people.

Accessibility features for people with disabilities? Yeah that makes perfect sense.

Exactly.

Being fat doesn't mean you'll die early or anything. Someone might live fine to 100 years old. But let's not pretend it's something to cheer about. When someone 300 lbs cant get up a flight of stairs or put on their shoes without groaning about bad knees or they cant see their shoe laces because their gut gets in the way, lets face it you got problems.

That's like promoting being a slob never bathing or brushing teeth. The person might be perfectly healthy, live a long time and have lucky rock solid teeth. But nothing to be proud of.

Now I see why Windows 11 is such an unfinished mess. They were busy doing shit like this.

Wish they'd spend the time and effort at least getting back to feature parity of at least 10.
I know that you were probably on a hate boner when you made the thread, but lets not get stupid

'cause I'm pretty sure the marketing team wasnt coding Windows 11

After getting a release right, Microsoft always fucks up with the following release. So it was kinda expected.

Windows 12 will be a banger
