Three games won two BAFTAs each: Animal Crossing won Game Beyond Entertainment and Multiplayer; Sackboy: A Big Adventure won British Game and Family; and The Last of Us Part II won Animation and Performer in a Leading Role, with Laura Bailey winning her first BAFTA.

Carrion, the horror game, won in the Debut category.

Audio Achievement was won by Ghost of Tsushima.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales won the Music category.

Original Property was won by Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition, the magical realist adventure game.

The action adventure game Sea of Thieves won Evolving Game.

Dreams won in the Technical Achievement category and Siobhan Reddy, studio director at Media Molecule, was honoured with the Fellowship, the highest honour the Academy can bestow.

With a record number of votes cast The Last of Us Part II wins the EE Game of the Year – the only award to be voted for by the public.

The ceremony, hosted by Elle Osili-Wood, was live streamed through BAFTA’s social platforms.

The Awards are supported by BAFTA’s official games partners Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, PlayStation, SEGA Europe LTD, Tencent Games and Ubisoft, with EE sponsoring the only award voted for by the public.

The Man With The Golden Dong
I can’t believe Ashley Johnson keeps getting snubbed in favor of Laura Bailey. Both were good performances but Johnson was the heart and soul of that game.

It’s almost like they’re awarding the novelty factor of Abby’s role in the game over the actual performance itself.

The section at the end where Ellie tells Joel “You should’ve let me die in that hospital, because then my life would’ve fucking mattered. You took that from me” is one of the best performed lines ever in a video game and alone deserves the award. Fucking Abby lol

Good for SOT.

Man Hades is pretty fun but I’m not seeing what’s so special about it TBH. I bough it due to the hype and enjoyed it for a couple days but that was it really.

Great wins for Hades, very well deserved. I’m even ok with the narrative win as it has a great one, although once again we have another gaming awards show that failed to even nominate the best narrative in gaming last year by far in 13 sentinels. Still I’ll take a hades win in that category.

Clueless.

It's a great movie, I agree!

clueless film GIF

Another player voted GOTY award for TLOU2. Add it to the 100+ other player voted GOTY awards it has won. Sony in particular should be proud of just how many of their games won awards here. TLOU2, Ghost, Miles Morales, Dreams, and Sackboy all took home awards while Astro and Demon's Souls were nominated for some things.

All Supergiant games get stupidly hyped up for being style over substance, but Hades is the first one of their games that lived up to the hype IMO. Congrats to them. Hopefully it comes to PS5 or XSX soon so I can play it on something bigger than my Switch Lite.

Read up to the second award ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENT.

Giving that to Hades over other games that easily steamroll Hades it's plain stupid. Not to mention Ori and the Will of the Wisps wasn't even nominated in that category lmao

It’s not special. They’re snobby critics who just wanna go against the tide because the the “other thing” is too popular.

I mean I like it? But it’s just pretty basic gameplay. There’s dozens of different playstyles, weapons, power ups etc. But the combat is not really great for any of them. And the game is all combat. The dialogue is great and should set an example for other games to not recycle dialogue over and over. But besides that it’s just pretty good.

I'm a Sony guy, love Sackboy franchise and hate Animal Crossing franchise, but I refuse to believe Sackboy beat Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the family category.

No way. Crossed the threshold of looking suspicious.

Um ACNH is a terrible "Family" game. Playing it with other people is a hassle and you really can't do much with other players to begin with. Pretty easy to me to see why Sackboy won it. Some of you really gloss over how shallow and outdated the multiplayer in ACNH is. I've put 700 hours into it and every flaw is blatantly obvious to me. I wouldn't award it anything personally except best Nintendo game last year.
