Winning Eleven 7 Goal Video.

AstroLad

Hail to the KING baby
Screw all you non-North American bastards that get to play the new version. I've been playing WE7 in anticipation, here I was in the Finals of the Americas Cup (as Brazil, v. Argentina)... I scored the first goal on one of the few triple-circle crosses, then Argentina countered, then I scored I then proceeded to get three red cards and Argentina one, and Argentina evened it 2-2, I was just basically trying to hang on in Extra Time, then this goal happened in the 107th minute.

Yup, I'm waiting. Though it's good I don't have access to it now as I have a much easier semester next, and I've spent 100+hours on WE7 so God only knows what WE8 will do to me.

Nice goal. I've got one of mine hosted somewhere. Let me try and find it.

i find crosses much harder in WE8/PES4.
The AI plays them much tighter. You can't just dump them in there, hoping for the best, and expect to score. But they're still just as accurate. Do you understand how the new system works?

Actually i dont understand the new crossing system at all. I always seem to jump at the wrong times now. I just assumed i need to practice more?

Heh, got a game of WE7 on pause right now...my Arsenal against Aston Villa in league play. Managed to tie league leaders Man United in my last game with like three minutes to go. :lol I'd never played a WE game before 7, and it's been my most played game of the year by miles.

I'm looking forward to grabbing WE8 on XBox...hopefully the replays last a lot longer. In the meantime, is there an up to date roster file for WE7 that's available? The latest one I have was created in June.

That goal was lovely BTW...I haven't quite mastered the over the shoulder flick yet, though I know how it's done.

If you're on the far side of the field, going (let's say) left:

down-right + circle --> far and high 18
down-left + circle--> far post
nothing + circle --> middle of box
up-left --> near post
up-right --> near and high 18
left --> near keeper
right --> top of the box

Accuracy and strength depends on attributes. For instance, Beckham can find the player almost every time.

Use R2 to reposition your player for receiving crosses. Otherwise, success mostly depends on not having to fight a defender for the header, or having a tall player (or with good Jump).

What I'm wondering is how you managed to get THREE red cards in one game?!

It was goofy, I think one was when I was just pressing X, the second, I do this thing where I time the slide tackle to intercept passes when I can't reach them otherwise, and some player turned an odd way and he got dinged instead, and the third was where I was sliding to keep a ball from going in after it had trickled past my goalie and Crespo got dinged almost as my guy was getting up. Freakish, but what're you gonna do? I've played this game so much that all I basically do is fuck around and try crazy shit on offense (see: video) and even defense when I can.

I've done that. Tackle the goalie 3 times in ISS64. If you're lucky, he'll be injured, therefore on the ground rolling in pain. Open net for the rest of the game.

Turn off penalties, and laugh as you see every member on the other team on the ground or limping towards you.

Which version of WE8 will most likely be online? Xbox ofr PS2? If both which one should I get to play in the leagues?

You know what's funny, the little down-up flick on the right analog stick in WE7 that the goalie always misses.

xbox i think is confirmed i dunno about ps2. The ps2 version has slowdown but i think thats only a pal thing maybe.

The Xbox version doesn't have confirmed Live play in NA, I don't think, but you can probably count on it. The PS2 version almost definitely won't.

The Jpn WE8 had some disruptive slowdown. PAL PS2 PES4 has a little (depends on settings/field). And the NA PS2 WE8 will hopefully have none, but I expect it to be a straight conversion of PAL PS2 PES4.

Very few people will understand what I just said.

I hate that we have to wait so long for what is essentially zero alteration to PES. Very frustrating. I loved the WE6 manuals that even had PES screenshots w/ "Pro Evoution Soccer" clearly showing.

I guess their logic is:

They released WE6 in ~February 2003. This wasn't any normal choice. More like they decided to bring it to NA at one point and that was the earliest they could do it. So now they've got a fanbase that expects the series to be released at that point each year. Also that they may be discouraged to purchase the latest version if Konami pushes it up to November and they only have 9 months between versions.

And Konami may justify not bothering to push the release up, thinking that the fanbase is ignorant and doesn't expect to get the game any earlier. Like, they don't understand the series' origins.

It sucks. Especially since I plan on getting the Xbox version and it may not be out until March or April. :\

What's very frustrating about this is that NA is obviously a big market, yet one that's probably more EA Zombies than any other; you'd think that Konami would take advantage of the time to tweak the game to perfection. I'm not talking major upgrades, but at least fix some of the easy-to-fix problems w/ the other versions or give us the most current Japanese version!

Then again, many things Konami does w/ this series boggles the mind to me. It has the best gameplay of any game I've ever played in my 19 years of playing games, and yet the interface, year-in, year-out, looks and feels like it was slapped together the night before the game shipped. Seriously, can't they put aside maybe, say, one weekend to put together a halfway-decent interface? Is that so much to ask?

I was going to get the X-Box version too but I dunno if I can hold out (plus I don't have Live at my apt., just my house, so I won't get to school all of NA). Did you hear that the PS2 version has supposedly better graphics? Mind-boggling again, but wouldn't surprise me.

The interface is significantly better in WE8/PES4. They finally overhauled it. The lighter backgrounds (think of the WE7 menus as 'dark') alone give it a much different feel - a better one, imo. I never found the previous games difficult or cumbersome to navigate, but it's much more intuitive now. The superficial improvements, such as more icons and graphics, are nice too.

Nah. Konami shocked the world and actually ported it perfectly. The minimal framerate issues were even ironed out. Some people also say the Xbox version looks better (richer colours), while others say they're identical.

Just stumbled across this, though, concerning online play with Live:

In other words, every time you're caught offside, you have to sit and watch the replay. Every time you commit a particularly handsome foul, you have to watch the referee running up to your man and ticking him off, followed by a replay of the incident, maybe followed by the sight of a player being stretchered off. When the game reaches half-time, you have to watch all the players leave the field as the camera flicks between their faces. When you score, you have to watch the homoerotic celebration sequences. None of this can be skipped.
And talking of defenders, the online AI seems to be on a very low difficulty setting. Matches are wide open, with defences being up on the halfway line for 90% of the match, meaning the through ball - played along the deck or otherwise - sometimes feels infallible. Also, the 'keepers can react a lot more slowly than when playing offline, meaning that cheap goals are often conceded. This makes the game a little more fun in my opinion, since 0-0 draws are all but eliminated – undoubtedly, some purists won't be happy with it.

Yeah, that Live stuff is awful news. We'll see I suppose. Yeah I noticed they did F w/ the menus a little, I mean compare WE to something like FIFA[/blasphemy] and it's really atrocious what they do w/ their menus. Sure they're semi-functional, but that's about it. It was the same thing w/ how in WE6 e.g. you couldn't get in-game replays of any kind. They're just a little slow on some very basic stuff it seems. Not that I'm complaining seriously of course, it's by far my #1 console series ever.

Some sweet goals there! My friends and I realised a while ago that we had way too many goals saved on memory cards (114 I believe is the official count) from WE5 to WE7I, so I dumped them all to iMovie and started working on a WE Goals DVD. Due to general laziness and delusions of grandeur (LET'S MAKE THE INTRO LOOK LIKE THE PREMIERSHIP!) it's taken forever, but I'm hoping to have it done in a couple of weeks. Wish there was a way to share it with you guys but it's like 45 minutes long :-P

FTP! That's awesome. Yes, this is a great reason to get the game on X-Box, unlimited save space for replays. No more trying to remember which goal on your card was the "worst" so that you can make room for the newest feat!

Hehehe man I wish I could save some of my own replays, deleted most of them long ago after I finished with PES3.

One of my best was a proper bicycle kick from Henry, another was Beckham on the right goal line near the corner, chipping it back over his head past the defender then volleying it over to the centre with Ronaldhino smacking it in with a volleyed goal. Stuff like that only happens once.

While that would be great, that is not the case. Stupid (and lazy) Konami still limits the space you can use to that of a normal memory card (same number of slots). Though you can still FTP to your xbox and move them to your PC, to make more room, but that shouldn't be necessary. :(

Well that's pretty fucking stupid...blah.

I could be half a yard out with an open goal and a ball dropping at half a mile per hour with no defenders around me and i still wouldn't be able to get a fucking header..

I've got chips mastered though.

A friend of me scored me a similar goal with Helguera (R. Madrid) from the line on the miedfield, it was also on we7, if you shot the ball when the player comes running after a rebound and you do it at firsts (without controlling it) they shoot extremely hard.
