Winning Eleven 9 is here!

The year long wait is finally over. Just collected my copy of Winning Eleven 9. The damn instruction manual is so huge that they had to pack it outside of the box ( ala GT3- Aspec). I'm getting my Ass kicked on 3 stars, having gone scoreless in 4 consecutive matches.

how much improved is robben and lampard? can you tell me what robben has in speed and dribble stats. thanks.

PS2 version? In Japan?

If so, I wonder if we'll see a bump in Japanese HW sales, or hopefully, this will convince Sony to finally drop the damn HW price. It's like $185 in US dollars, right?

The latest PSM has some PES5 data (I assume its the same as WE9)

Robben

Top Speed = 90 (+5)
Acceleration = 90 (0)
Dribble Accuracy = 92 (+2)
Dribble Speed = 95 (+7)

Lampard

Stamina = 97 (+9)
Shot Power = 90 (+4)
Team Work = 92 (+17)
Condition = 8 (+1)

I'll check them later. Btw, I believe Lampard's free kick animation is unique to the player ( i think)

Damn, lucky bastard. I have to wait till PES5 hits the stores...

Has it changed much since WE 8?

is vieira in the arsenal team? does hleb's face look like it does in real life?

Yes he is. The roster is grossly out-dated. For example, Robert and Kluivert are still in NUFC. Anyway, Finally scored my first goal using Henry :D The collision detection in this game is bloody amazing I think....You can feel players really fighting for the ball this time around. It is also much harder to execute a decent shot at goal

Who care's about those, its all about C.Ronaldo now this guy was really underrated....
yeah him too. it makes you wonder if konami even saw one games from euro 2004, when both robben and ronaldo owned on their sides. especially ronaldo against england. haha him and ashley cole... that was seriously fun to watch :)

Cole won that battle and that was one of the best performances in an England shirt, even better than uknowwho against Greece.

Joe Cole is in the starting 11 in WE9 . Andy Johnson is surprisingly in the 22..with pretty decent stats. Beckham's stats have been lowered somewhat...athough his crosses/passes are still pretty insane.

Well Joe Cole has just broken into the side so it's a fair shout to put him in the starting 11. How are SWP stats? His speed related stats should be up there with Robbens and faster in some cases.

SWP's Acceleration is 90 and Speed is 91. The rest of the stats are pretty 'meh' though. Lampard and Stevie's stats have improved by quite a bit btw...

Damnit I don't care about stats, how does it play??? :-)

I really wish Konami would copy FIFA in one regard... releasing the game later in the season so rosters/stats/etc can be reflected.

I wish the same thing too, but not gonna happen...

This is how they get people to buy their stupid Liveware Evolution/Final Evolution/International versions of the game!

Well, the problem is THOSE aren't updated either -- they arrive after the January transfer window but contain none of the January transfers, so the game is always outdated!

Graphics wise, it looks almost the same as the sequel. Animations, however, have been completely revamped. One thing I really like about the game now is how players really fight for the ball (ie players backing into one another, arms flying around, abit of shirt tugging now and then) Several other random thoughts:

- Scoring is now so much harder. You really need to get into a proper scoring position to unleash a decent shot

- One touch passing looks and feels much more fluid

- Goal Keeper animations and AI ( more agressive) have improved

- Scoring from crosses is easier
