Good SLI scaling is really exciting since I bought a second 970 just for this game. Hairworks looks great.
Ah, I have a 650w Corsair, forgot model, but it's doing a good job. Had a 550w corsair PSU in the same rig but I switched just in case, that one worked fine as well. And yeah, with AM3+ being a dead socket it's not really worth investing in a new mobo unless it dies. Like mine did 2 months ago, both motherboard and gpu just fried
. But got them replaced now so all's well. Old mobo was actually a M5A97, one of the USB hubs on the back fried so it refused to start :/
i5-750 is a minimum requirement. You should be able to run it "ok". Depends on GPU too.

Watching a few youtube vids I still think with everything on ultra including all the uber settings unless your running in SLI (and it's working) their will be frame dips. I'm going to be running this on 2 setups.

Apparently, it "can't" be optimized for AMD GPUs because CDPR are not allowed to share the source code to a party who does not own a Gameworks licence.

Lol, as far as I remember tressFX ran waayyyy worse on nvidia GPUs. At least on release.
Nope. My experience was that it ran much better on AMD GPUs for good reasons : they are, for the most part, better at compute.
But it's true that they have allowed complete authority on the code, unlike Nvidia and Hairworks.
Nvidia claim it's industry practice but that sucks for AMD gamers.

It did? Maybe that patch for intel HD GPUs and Nvidia gpus helped it run better.

Says 4 hours in New Zealand but I assume it's wrong.
PCGH reported a couple of days ago that the game was still "playable" on a 2GHz 4790K. I don't see CPU power having a particularly noticeable effect on framerate.

Yeah AM3+ does not have many choices left really. Might have to jump on the intel bandwagon one day. ;p
Anywas has the Corsair served you okay? because i keep seeing some people saying to avoid them.
Rather it be the 400 or 600M and the non M models even. Having a pickle of a time picking out a new one since I'm not spending more then a 100 bucks on one (Sorry Seasonic), but currently have a multi rail PSU at 12v 22A and 12v 22A nice package really psu wise, though again its not the most trusted brand. Also does it really not matter rather if its one rail or two in you're opinion?

can someone give me an idea of what to expect from an i5-4590/8GB/290 4GB (w/ ~11% OC) ??
the nvidia image i seen said that a 960 will get 1080p on high. but nothing about frame rate. a 970 i think was the same except ultra. i wouldn't mind 1080p on high. i'd like to get a stable 60fps but if i can cap it at 30fps that would be fine!

Yeah, but that CPU has hyperthreading, while a i5-750 does not. Which may or may not take its toll.

Yup, same specs, same overclock. I'm hoping I can 1440p w/ Gameworks locked at 30fps but I might be pushing my luck.
I know, but hyperthreading is nowhere near as ideal as an additional four physical cores, even in games that scale well.
That is extremely surprising, I was expecting max settings to be very heavy on the CPU.
But then this was back when the game looked much better.

Just out of curiosity as everybody can buy whatever he wants with his money. But why did you buy an alienware alpha when your main PC is obviously a powerhouse? Just a collectors thing or is there another reason behind it?

I wish I went with a k but I just had to penny pinch. Hopefully my non-k 2500 will be able to keep up. You won't regret the MSI 970 either, great GPU from my experience.

Does it? I had no idea. If there's a proper in-game limiter, then that's really tempting me to just try and bump up the visuals instead.

Good question to be honest. I bought the Alienware Alpha on the spot kind of thing in store. at the time I had my gaming laptop (dust collector now) which is still quite decent - i7, 680GTX,16GB. On both setups I still couldn't really Ultra games so I built a PC. Kind of got a promotion at work and spent silly. I even bought a MAC at the time.
You could say it's a complete waste of money and you'd be right. I should have built the PC from the start.

That's the main reason I got rid of my 980 SLI setup and picked up a Titan X. GSYNC + DSR are too damn good to give up.
Downloading them now thanks, now just need to unlock the game and hope my GTX 980 will max it out plus gameworks at 1080/60fps
I can't wait to hook it up. Been squeezing my 670 for the last few months and while it's definitely still capable it's beginning to show its age. I feel sad retiring it, but life goes on.
You should sell your -k on ebay for £70-80 and pick up a +k for £90-100.

I'll withhold from installing these new drivers just to measure the performance difference on my rig.
That's my exact configuration. Installed the GPU on Friday and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The MSI card is overclocked by default at frequencies that aren't that far from stock 980 frequencies.
