Not sure if it's on either or but it's baked into the game so can't be offloaded to a PhysX card IIRC.
My bad didn't see ;p
Never the less i think i might just get a new PSU over a new motherboard it seems. I can live with the m5a97 for a bit longer, since there aren't that many choices mb wise and i don't want to go into the 150+ range. Even though my current psu has served me well even though the brand is not the greatest, its time to step it up.
lol, thanks. Gonna wait anyway till I see real performance comparisons
Translation: Nvidia are dicks. Meanwhile TressFX in Tomb Raider ran about as well on AMD and Nvidia gpus.
Alice Madness Returns is still the GOAT when it comes to nice looking hair + performance though .P

Lol, as far as I remember tressFX ran waayyyy worse on nvidia GPUs. At least on release.
Nope. My experience was that it ran much better on AMD GPUs for good reasons : they are, for the most part, better at compute.
But it's true that they have allowed complete authority on the code, unlike Nvidia and Hairworks.
Nvidia claim it's industry practice but that sucks for AMD gamers.
Says 4 hours in New Zealand but I assume it's wrong.Says Release is 6 away hours according to GOG Galaxy (Australia)
i5-750 is a minimum requirement. You should be able to run it "ok". Depends on GPU too.
Ah, I have a 650w Corsair, forgot model, but it's doing a good job. Had a 550w corsair PSU in the same rig but I switched just in case, that one worked fine as well. And yeah, with AM3+ being a dead socket it's not really worth investing in a new mobo unless it dies. Like mine did 2 months ago, both motherboard and gpu just fried . But got them replaced now so all's well.
Old mobo was actually a M5A97, one of the USB hubs on the back fried so it refused to start :/
PCGH reported a couple of days ago that the game was still "playable" on a 2GHz 4790K. That's a clockspeed reduction of roughly 55%.
Yup, same specs, same overclock. I'm hoping I can 1440p w/ Gameworks locked at 30fps but I might be pushing my luck.780 ti with 4790k @ 4.8GHz reporting...
looks like I really need to go get that gsync monitor if I want to play with gameworks enabled
Yeah, but that CPU has hyperthreading, while a i5-750 does not. Which may or may not take its toll.
PCGH reported a couple of days ago that the game was still "playable" on a 2GHz 4790K. I don't see CPU power having a particularly noticeable effect on framerate.
Watching a few youtube vids I still think with everything on ultra including all the uber settings unless your running in SLI (and it's working) their will be frame dips. I'm going to be running this on 2 setups.
My Main.
CPU: Intel® Core i7 4790K
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 280mm AIO Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme4 Motherboard
Graphics: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB
Memory: Kingston Hyper X Fury HX318C10FK2/16 16GB (2x8GB) Blue
Solid State Drive: Samsung 850 EVO Series 250GB SSD
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001
Power Supply: Be Quiet! Pure Power L8 600W Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 32/64-bit Retail DVD
Alienware Alpha:
CPU: i7 4765
Graphics: GTX860M 2GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Only thing that will kill me on this rig is the 5400RPM HDD. Loading times will suck.
Yeah AM3+ does not have many choices left really. Might have to jump on the intel bandwagon one day. ;p
Anywas has the Corsair served you okay? because i keep seeing some people saying to avoid them.
Rather it be the 400 or 600M and the non M models even. Having a pickle of a time picking out a new one since I'm not spending more then a 100 bucks on one (Sorry Seasonic), but currently have a multi rail PSU at 12v 22A and 12v 22A nice package really psu wise, though again its not the most trusted brand. Also does it really not matter rather if its one rail or two in you're opinion?
I wish I went with a k but I just had to penny pinch. Hopefully my non-k 2500 will be able to keep up. You won't regret the MSI 970 either, great GPU from my experience. My MSI 970 is arriving tomorrow. Pairing with an i5 2500k @4.3ghz. Funny how this CPU is listed as minimum yet it's still so beastly (especially with the ease of OC).
Can't wait to play a game I'm actually excited about. It's been too long.
Says 4 hours in New Zealand but I assume it's wrong.
Does it? I had no idea. If there's a proper in-game limiter, then that's really tempting me to just try and bump up the visuals instead.I'm so glad this game has a built in frame limiter.
Damn it nbison, where that performance driver?!
You're right. It's based on local time set on the pc. So no idea when it unlocks in Aus
Just out of curiosity as everybody can buy whatever he wants with his money. But why did you buy an alienware alpha when your main PC is obviously a powerhouse? Just a collectors thing or is there another reason behind it?

This makes me sad when I remember it's not possible to use these technologies together yet (G-SYNC + SLI + DSR) yet

Isnt it the 19th now in Australia?
I'm just gonna hold out and wait for Intels Skylake at this stage. Tbh, my non k has been able to keep up with everything so far so I can wait a while longer.I can't wait to hook it up. Been squeezing my 670 for the last few months and while it's definitely still capable it's beginning to show its age. I feel sad retiring it, but life goes on.
You should sell your -k on ebay for £70-80 and pick up a +k for £90-100.
It'd definitely be a handy feature to have in the settings.Someone said earlier that it does. I just hope it's true.
That's my exact configuration. Installed the GPU on Friday and I'm pretty happy with it so far. The MSI card is overclocked by default at frequencies that aren't that far from stock 980 frequencies. My MSI 970 is arriving tomorrow. Pairing with an i5 2500k @4.3ghz.
