Well, this has to be the strangest bus experience I've had thus far...
On the Q36 today a woman got on, with the intention of heading to the hospital because she was visibly carrying a child. Once she sat down, she started to grimace in pain, and the driver saw through the mirror, turned around and asked if she was okay.
She wasn't okay. She was having labor pains.
The driver called command and asked for an ambulance, while the woman sat down dealing with the labor pains. After the ambulance was called, the driver came over and started trying to get some basic information out of the woman; did your water break, how many months pregnant are you, is there any bleeding, etc.
However, the woman only spoke Spanish, and nobody else on the bus did.
So, I managed to call my Spanish co-worker on my cell phone, and gave the phone to the driver who then had him ask her questions, and got the phone passed back for answers. The call lasted about four minutes, and then the woman laid down on the seats to get more comfortable, using my down jacket as a pillow. The ambulance showed up another three or so minutes later, taking the woman off safely.
Well, that was quite different.
