Other than a short period around Cataclysm, I don't think Paladins have ever *actually* been OP. What your horde from vanilla didn't know is that it was deathly dull.
tanking paladins were OP as shit in ToT :p
being able to clear the debuffs plus devo, plus self and raid smart healing plus some of the best mitigation and tanking besides monks

I know I know other classes can also get bubbled by the ret/holy paladin but that required
a) to bring a ret or holy and ret wasn't all that great
b) has inherently less precision, taunt is a 3s fixate, you need to get bubbled and get it off in those 3s, relying on vent+player lag can lead to you getting that bop just as taunt runs out

What was the reason Blizzard gave for going against the original idea of having Monks not have an auto attack?

Their abilities would hit too hard to compensate and it would have impacted PVP. Something like that I think.

Edit, full reason:

http://www.tankspot.com/showthread....rview-with-Greg-quot-Ghostcrawler-quot-Street
S: Well, that’s what I do with everything anyway because I prefer to not have to think <laughs> but yeah, I definitely was noticing that it felt a lot smoother. I also noticed that the Monk has regained the ability to punch things without me pushing buttons.

GS: Autoattack. Yeah. So, we tried it without autoattack, and it sucked, and so we said we’re not going to keep it just for the sake of being different. It was weird for a couple of reasons. One of the very first quests in the Pandaren starting area says, “Go up to this target dummy and attack it.” So you’d go up and click on the target dummy, and as a World of Warcraft player you expect him to hit the target, but he goes up and he does this. <pantomiming a fighting stance> And he sits there. And if you left for 15 minutes to get a beer, and came back, he’d still be doing this. And that feels really weird.

It was kind of lame, when you were fighting a target, and you’d have it down to like 10 health, and you couldn’t kill it. And now you have to blow a special attack and lots of resources just to hit for 10 damage, whereas a Warrior’s just going to autoattack the thing down once it gets that wounded. So that felt weird.

Those are the main reasons. We were kind of relieved, from a balance point of view. I don’t want to make it sound like the balance concerns were driving it in this case, but autoattack damage for melee classes is something like 30-40% of their damage, which means that we know that the worst player in the world will at least do 30-40% of the best player in the world. Once the skilled player’s doing 100%, and the worst player’s doing like 1%, it makes it really hard for us to balance the class. In addition, when there’s no auto attack, it means that that 30-40% needs to all get baked into the special attacks, which means that a Monk would hit for like 400% weapon damage, which you can see could have PvP ramifications. So, it’s just a safer place now.

TS: That makes a lot of sense.

GS: And nobody misses it. No one who’s tried it is like, “Man, the Monk was so cool without autoattack.” They’re like, “Yeah, this feels natural now.”

I can see why those would be pretty big issues.

I wonder if they could have used DoT's as a replacement for white damage then?

I don't know, maybe it still would have felt weird.

By the way...anybody got tips for Garrosh? Normal, 25-man. Currently spreading slightly and killing the adds, but the spot where it seems to fall apart is around the second empowered whirling corruption or at any point in P3 between complications with either adds or mind control coinciding with something like a weapon being dropped.

Apparently this group has tried the kiting method but to no better or worse success. Was thinking I could spec into chillbains and do it, but I'm not sure how well that would work out. Plus it's another thing to learn, changing the strategy again.

Arguments in a PUG raid can be so uncomfortable, good god. Like when they start debating strategy and neither will back down. And then they start bringing out their stats (well, I'm 11/14 heroic bro, I think I know bro). Some people take this game way too goddamn seriously.

We one shot everything up to Malkorok in Siege, but then the raid fell apart because these douches wouldn't stop flexing their e-peens at each other.

2 Elixirs of Ancient Knowledge within an hour, up to 3 now for my next character. Still no clue what I want to play.

Onyxia's mount dropped for me last night when i was smacking her one. Is that rare? I never saw it when i raided her at 80 nor 60. Oh well, looks cool!

Actually they were for quite a bit of Wrath. At least Prot. The free second life that you didn't even have to think about (was a passive) was absurdly better than anything else for progression, along with the absolute faceroll of a rotation compared to other tanks.

Gah, I was thinking Wrath, even though Cataclysm came out of my fingers.

How quickly we forget the 3.0 patch during BC...

Mmm, that's never a particularly progression-focussed point of an expansion, though, it's just gearing up for the next.

Really? I never particularly felt inherently superior to my cotanks.

Oh, fair point, Glyph of the Battle Healer was indeed too powerful. I didn't think of it as part of the paladin themselves - since it was more notable in terms of the impact on the raid, not the player - but it's good it got nerfed.

I've apparently been blessed by the loot gods this past week. 3 Elixirs in the last 3 hours, earlier this week I got 2 daggers and 2 trinkets out of Siege on my rogue, and out of all the loot on Ordos I didn't need I got the one I did w/o rolling. Time to hit the casino.

It's still rare I think. I mean you see the mount around these days since Ony is super easy to solo farm at 90, but the drop rate is fairly low.

I've been killing her every week for months and have yet to see it drop =[

I've been killing her, Malygos, Kaelthas and Attumen on 4 different characters every weeks for the past months. Still no mounts. I already got the Blue Drake a long time ago and Malygos dropped it twice since then, still no Azure.

When I still played I farmed Malygos every week on two characters and he dropped 3 Blue Drakes within a month. Bonkers. No Azure yet too.

Been pretty lucky these last few months. Got the mount from the bird in FL on my first try. Got the Ashes of A'lar a few days later. Then I got the Blue Drake not long after, followed by the Azure Drake a month later or so. That was 2-3 weeks ago, got the Onyxia Drake yesterday. Only Fiery Warhorse left of the easily soloable raid boss mounts. Still need the Blue Proto-Drake from the dude in Utgarde Pinnacle and the drake from the drake in The Vortex Pinnacle too.

Ah alright, well thats neat. I'm rather happy with that outcome then! I remember trying to get the damn ZG tiger. That bastard never dropped for me either, i like to think this is mount karma

I'm just glad with Cursed Vision and Ashes out of the way, I can stop running BT and TK.

Right now my daily runs are Forge of Souls because I'm too cheap to buy a 22 slot bag and ZG. If I can get the ZG mounts out of the way, I'll go back to trying Pinnacle I guess

You can get a guaranteed 22 slots bag from Onyxia and OS(under Dragonblight temple), a 24 slots bag from a Kunlai Summit quest near the middle of the zone and another 24 slots bag from a ZA quest, assuming you can solo that dungeon.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

There's another 24 slot bag you can farm from the northern barrens korkron mobs, too.

Got all those. Papa's Brand New Bag is the only unique one I'm missing

Apparently today is my day for mount drops

Within 5 hours of getting Ashes

Wait, if you already have all those, why are you bothering in finding another 22 slots bag? For your bank? :p

This I did not know. Might do that later, assuming it's not something silly like 0.05% chance drop.

Edit: Whaaa, there's a 28 slot bag? Looks you need to have a tailor exalted with AC and then you can make one every 12 days. Guess that's what I'll be working on.

I really hope in WoD they patch Ulduar to make it soloable. It's dumb that you have to have someone else to try to get Mimmiron's head when it already has a stupidly low drop rate.

Shado-Pan Assault ring got, SoO LFR unlocked on Lock. At least I'm over that hump, but I'm not looking forward to the LFR gearing grind on him.

And I feel bad that my DPS is so poor at the moment. Partly inexperience, partly gear, but it just feels terrible right now. Suppose I can't properly compare to my DK who I've played for over 4 years now and has 60 iLevels on him. Just need to give it some time I guess. I know if I got more serious about him, for example, setting up proper TellMeWhen notifications, I'd do better. It's just hard to be motivated to optimize when your gear is so poor that you're going to replace it all quickly and your DPS will increase substantially with each upgrade anyway.

MoP Challenge Mode rewards being removed with the release of 6.0. Interesting move. I understand the reasons for doing so, but it does seem to clash with Blizzard's recent philosophy of not removing stuff from the game.

If I ever had to play a Blood Elf(god forbid) I think I'd have to pick every single piece of gear from Sunwell. Rerunning it, I love how unique it looks even though there's nothing class specific, only armor. It's subtle but extravagant. Fits the race perfectly. I remember people hating it when it came out though, the armor, I mean.

Interesting. I've pretty much tried everything that Blizzard has every put into WoW with the one exception being the Challenge Mode. Maybe they had data that showed it just wasn't being used.

No, it's likely that the new stat changes in WoD trivialize or make the MoP Challenge modes easier than intended.

It's just the "MoP Challenge Mode Season" ending. There will be new ones with new rewards in WoD.

I have two tailor alts whose full-time job is to make Royal Satchels. I've probably made close to 40 of them by now.

I guess I'll need to find a group for challenge modes then to do sometime soon. Never got around to it before, even though they seemed like something I would like. Especially with the vast amount of achievement points they give.

And while it would be cool to get the transmog gear for more than one character, I think that's too much effort to do it more than once.

Could just pay for a carry, but the prices I've seen for those seem a bit exorbitant. And while they're already FoS, shame that the realm first time titles will be going away as well. Some really fucking cool ones in there.

Yeah, I'm gonna start looking for a group for Challenge Modes.

Been wanting to do it for a while, and I've been putting it off long enough.

Ideally, I'd like to get both Armor Sets for my Hunter and DK, but we'll see...

Got a debt card to buy WoW time, debt cant buy online so I have to ask for a credit card of the same type but cant pass my debt card money to the credit card fuuuuuu

A debit card? Never had an issue using my debit card for wow sub..

How the hell do I put pet abilities on his action bar? Leveling my warlock but all of his abilities are considered passive so I can't set them on his action bar. Keep trying to get my Felguard to use Axe Toss but I can't make him do it.

They don't have to be on the bar to be used or active. Passives won't go there, actives you should only put on there if you actually 'use' them or toggle them. IE: pet taunt, pet res, pet bloodlust, etc. If it's right clicked/glowy it'll autocast whether it's on there or not. If it's passive, it never goes there.

Axe Toss shouldn't be passive though or his whirlwind.

They're not, you just drag them onto the bar in place of another ability, you can't replace most of the abilities on the bar since most of them are pet commands. You don't need to put anything else on there, and again most of em you can just leave on autocast.
