Would Monster Hunter Wilds be more fun to play in multiplayer?

Yeah, for sure.

I'm not a multiplayer dude, but back when playing MH GU I found it to be one of the most friendly communities I've stumbled into.

I mean… you’re asking theoretical questions about a game that isn’t out yet. Generally multiplayer games can be more fun with people. That said, Wilds has a great AI companion system to fill out the party with NPCs if you are playing alone. They are quite competent.

Yes, it’s a hypothetical question, but playing with strangers can or cannot be fun depending on the game. Those who have played the earlier games in the franchise may get me some idea on it, I thought.

I always play a monster the first time alone, then I go to multiplayer. Fighting alone let you learn the monster's attack patterns and how to counter attack it. Multiplayer is generally just you brutalizing the monster after everyone is above decent in the game until you hit the higher ranks.

MH has always been great MP mayhem and the community is pretty welcoming in general. Been playing MH games since the PSP.

I usually play games alone, but I wonder if upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds be more fun to play in multiplayer with strangers. Between single player and multiplayer, which mode is more enjoyable? Thanks.
Depends on what you're after. If you are having trouble getting through the game, co op will carry you to the end. In the end game content you'll be pretty powerful and can solo easily, but co op can help you grind for armor and materials.

To be honest, Wilds will likely be more user friendly than previous titles, you'll probably enjoy it a lot more going solo.

Monster Hunter was a series meant to be played with others. Then Capcom Americanized the hell out of it and added a solo story for our individualist cold heart. But MH at its core, is 4 potion and 4 maps in the chest when you start a mission.

Co-op is super fun for the grinding, but I'd rather fight the monsters solo first.

It can sometimes get frustrating with random carting, but you just have to roll with it. (pun intended)

Of course. Most multiplayer that is light and done without voice chat is far superior to single player with AI NPCs. There is really no downside. If you play anything more complex than a straight damage dealer most support classes really only make sense in multiplayer. Nothing as fun as playing Heavy Bowgun and switching to healing shells and shoooting a teammate while they are running for their lives, and they shoot you a grateful emote. Half the classes in the game are built for tanking, support or ranged which all operate best in groups.

For me, it's your general multiplayer fun if you play with random people.
But with friends, it's definitely more fun

Yes, especially the hardest monsters. Can be quite challenging and time consuming to doing solo. Even for farming materials its much faster just to go in co-op.
Playing with randoms can be a bit frustating if someone dont know what its doing and keeps dying ruining the run for everyone else, but my experience in MH World, i always co-op with randoms and grand majority of the time the experience was great. I did the full story solo though. But to farm materials always searched for co-op parties.

The challenge here is that MHWilds is now the 6th generation of MH game and pretty vastly different from previous titles. It’s hard to say what the meta will be now.

You can bring two weapons with you. Are players going to expect you bring a horn to buff your allies all the time? Tripping each other doesn’t appear to be a thing anymore so positioning etiquette might change.

It’s just a completely new beast. MH is always, and will always be amazing fun with friends. With randoms? I dunno. There’s a lot of elitists in the MH community that will actually kick you from the group for being subpar in their eyes. This is also the first game that’s completely cross platform. How is cheating and modding going to affect multiplayer on other platforms?

There are just too many variables for anyone to answer your question effectively other than to say MH is always really good with a trusted friend group.

Do it, the MH community is awesome. I played a lot of World solo at first and wish I jumped into SOS flares sooner, even with randos.

For me personally I have more fun playing Monster Hunter games alone because I enjoy the battles between me and Monster without no else interfering.

Same

I have nothing against anyone who like to play with others, but I've always played this IP alone
