WTF? Castlevania: DiScontinued?

Woa, didn't Pheonix, with the special edition and regular edition, sell close to 100k so far in Japan?

man, they did underdeliver in the US.

in mid-december I was informed that it was sold out in Australia and NZ and that a new shipment could "possibly" arrive late jan.

Yes, the remake was closing in 100K before it disappeared from the list. It's Capcom's second largest GBA Japanese franchise after Rockman.EXE.

DO IT. I assume you're referring to the prices on Amazon.ca. It's totally worth it.
Damn this peer pressure, I've been buying too many games lately. :(

This is still awesome news, kinda.
Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center are both unavailable on Eb and Gamestop's sites, and new copies of Phoenix Wright are going for around $55 minimum on Amazon.

That Atlus and Capcom were able to sell out of their runs on admittedly outside the mainstream products, new franchises also, means great things for their future publishing prospects on the system. Until now, I thought Phoenix Wright didn't do so hot, but now I think its not so crazy that we might see translated versions of its followups already released in Japan in America. And Atlus seems to be incapable of publishing uninteresting games in America, this is win-win-win.

Except for those dudes who can't find a copy of Phoenix Wright, Trauma Center, or Castlevania. They are most likely screwed for the long hall, how often do portable games get reprints or greatest hits rerelases anyway?
(hugs his DS collection)

GBA is getting quite a few reprints recently with those "2 in 1" carts. Rare Castlevania games get bundled together so you can get both for $30. It makes sense because carts generally cost quite a bit more to manufacture than CDs. This cuts costs and allows the games to be sold for less (but you have to buy in "bulk"). As far as I can tell, the 2 in 1 carts are the "greatest hits" of handheld games. But I haven't seen anything like that on DS yet.

Man, I really hope Lost in Blue isn't already discontinued. I meant to ask for that around the holidays but totally spaced it. It's pretty much the only DS game out right now that I've been meaning to pick up for a while (I got Trauma Center and Phoenix Wright the day they came out just to avoid this sort of situation, and I already have Castlevania and the glorious Meteos as well). I guess I need to stop waiting for a sale or price cut and bite the bullet on that one.

Bah. I'll be getting Castlevania or Lost in Blue at Best Buy tomorrow($20-$25 ftw). I only have enough for one atm, but if I see Meteos then screw them.

saw trauma center at best buy.. a couple of them. Wish I could find a copy of DoS to use that $10 off coupon before it expires. I have not seen any DS games I was terribly interested in owning right now at either best buy I go to in the last month :(

I just returned from one of my local EBGames where they had CDOS, Trauma center & Phoenix wright. :) Yay Canada!
But I bought ACWW instead, as the only one of the above games I need is TC and I can wait till next week for that one.

Out of curiousity, which EB was it? I haven't seen any of those three games at EB.

This is a bad thing?

I had some Gamecrazy credit to blow today and I narrowed it down to Lunar: DS and Shining Force Neo, out of what they had in stock.. I chose Hot Stuff Coming Your Way.

you people are stupid, do you not know companies may still have them in stock at warehouses..

Of course some sites like gamestop.com and ebgames wil have em in stock, but soon as whatever they have is gone, its gone.. gone for good. Christ. =/

i'm sure phoenix wright isn't going to be reprinted.. with niche games they only print enough to cover demand.

i would be very surprised if more DOS doesn't hit stores. konami may have to wait for enough reorders to make a run of it worthwhile, or there may even be manufacturing backlogs at nintendo due to the popularity of DS games. who knows?

same goes for trauma center. anyone who follows atlus should know how they work by now -- they only print exactly enough to satisfy demand, so there aren't pricedrops or discounts at retail. it takes minimum a month between reprints. usually more. they are tiny and exceptionally conservative and this policy serves them well profitability-wise. so i expect it to continue. but i also expect to see more trauma center if retailers try to order it. disgaea was reprinted, after all.

Bought DoS a few weeks ago. Most shops have 3-4 copies of it. Also managed to pick up both HoD and AoS in a 2 for 20 deal a month ago.

Maybe living in the uk aint so bad...

Phoenix wright is on it's way to me thanks to this thread. there goes another wad of cash.

Gamestop.com has the game in stock and ready to ship, so this isn't that bad yet. Whether it's discontinued, I don't know. I'll try to find out today.

FYI- Konami discontinues games so they don't have to offer price protection to their retail and distribution accounts. They just discontinue it. Lazy bastards. Then they re-release it for batch orders to retailers with a different UPC code.

Basically you're saying this way they never risk having to price cut their games? Like when something drops to the bargain bin?

I too bought Castlevania tonight, but at Best Buy. I saw a used Meteos at Gamestop, but it was $27.00. If I'm gonna buy a used game, it better be a lot cheaper.

I bought Castlevania earlier today at Best Buy using one of those coupons.

Check your local Blockbuster Gamerush store for Phoenix Wright. That is the only place that I have ever seen the game. I bought mine there, my cousin bought the only other copy at the store, and since the I haven't seen it again. I've heard of a lot of people having luck at those stores though.
