WWE is firing a bunch of wrestlers probably due to the money downturn from the coronavirus.

  • Kurt Angle
  • Heath Slater
  • Aiden English
  • Sarah Logan
  • Referee Mike Chioda
  • Erick Rowan
  • Primo and Epico Colon
  • Drake Maverick
  • Curt Hawkins
  • Anderson & Gallows
  • EC3
  • Eric Young
  • Lio Rush
  • Mike Kanellis and Maria Kanellis
  • Zack Ryder
  • No Way Jose
Of course botchmaster Nia Jax is safe for now due to nepotism.

This sucks. Wrestling is going to be in a lot of hurt. And no this not good for these guys and no they are not going to go to AEW.

Tony Khan isn't running a charity. He isn't going to pay a bunch of people to sit at home. AEW is not running shows and at most they will do some tapings. But they also said if people dont want to show up they don't have to.

With no shows being run, no audiences, no travel, this leaves very few options for these guys to go get jobs elsewhere. They can't fly to Japan and most of them can't even fly to whatever city AEW will tape in.

Anderson and Gallows only signed fat new contracts last year. Wonder if they got big pay days for early contract termination.

Some pretty good talent there. The WWE has a crazy roster as they threw money at guys to hoard them from other promotions. EC3 wasn't even on tv.

Now that times are rough they can still strategically release who they want and they probably still can't go somewhere else for months and could have trouble jumping to another promotion in this economy.

Some if them like lio rush and rusev will go to AEW now

I don't know about that. AEW isn't running shows and are in the same boat as WWE. They already have a roster which a good portion of them are sitting at home doing nothing. And AEW said if wrestlers don't want to work they don't have to.

So I can't see Tony going out and paying a bunch of people to sit at home. Maybe 1 or 2 wrestlers get signed, but most of these people will be out of work. And since you can't really travel and no indy's are holding show, can't go to Japan or the UK, they are basically screwed at this point.

Really sucks for the wrestling industry and for all these people released today because they probably just lost an income source and the future of the entertainment industry is in a precarious position.

Anderson & Gallows, very interested if AEW picks these guys up for a reunion with Kenny and then maybe Omega making a stable with them and officially becoming the cleaner again being a Heel.

Also would love to see EC3 and MJF together as well.

isn't kurt angle a big name?

but to be fair i didn't follow wwe since rey misteryo and eddie guerrero...

MJF and EC3 being rich cousins that start out teaming and later can feud over who is richer is just guaranteed money.

I really only want to see AEW get him and Rusev on the men's side so far. Their women's division is so shallow that they can basically immediately use anyone WWE releases...even like Deonna Purrazzo could be really good for them. If the IIconics get released, I think they could be huge.

Hope everyone comes out of this ok first and foremost though. I'm sure that everyone that wants a job will get signed somewhere eventually but who knows when the companies smaller than WWE and AEW will even be able to run again...

AEW ain't expanding in this time of crisis, either. The entire wrestling industry pie (along with those of many other industries) is simply getting smaller.

I'm pretty surprised they released Lio Rush, he seemed to have gotten over his earlier mess-ups and looked to be one of the bright spots for the WWE cruiserweight division.

The Kanellises played WWE like fucking fiddles. Got'em to pay for Mike's rehab, got paid while on pregnancy leave. The real American hustle.

The one thing I hate most about wrestling (and its fans) is the grass is always greener "this undercard guy should be in the main event". They are usually wrong.

However, they had a good shot at that with EC3. He never even got a chance. I liked Rowan too. Anytime he got a push, he did damn well.

Wrestling fans are the worst thing about wrestling and have been getting worse and worse. A friend of mine's daughter has been getting into wrestling and she asked me if she should take her to a show and I had to tell her fuck no, those freaks will scar the child for life.

He was so terrible when he was main eventing TNA it made me stop watching it.

I don't think WWE would have done any better for him in the main event run.

They usually cleanup right after Wrestlemania anyways. Only this time it seems they had extra time to dust under the rugs and on top of the bookshelves and found some extra dust bunnies hanging around.

I mean they kept Viscera around for almost 10 years after he showed up on TV for no reason.

Even when I was watching in 98 forward, I don't think he was all that great when he started. He never had a great presence, just waved his metals around, like a pompous school boy of some sort. He claimed all American but he was never that interesting even then. But apparently he was a highly skilled wrestler? He looked to be in phenomenal shape and natural even if I had to guess. But I can't say, I always thought he was about as interesting if not less than William Regal lol

I was always waiting to see Kane and Stone Cold, personally. And Too Cool was my favorite
