X-Files Reboot

Mulder (or at least 'the other one' if they are not using the exact same characters)

Edit: I totally missed the joke here, that actor's last name is Patel, so maybe he's related to Kash :P

yes, I know that last name is EXTREMELY common, at least in the Indians able to emigrate out of India.

hold up a second, this isnt a reboot or a reimagining with a race swapped Mulder & Scully, is it not a kinda sorta continuation i.e. 2 new agents discover Mulders old office under lock and key whilst looking into some old case or something.. now its directed by Coogler so i'm fully expecting people of colour to be playing lead roles which i have no issues with and the man has writing/directing chops so this has every chance to be fucking good

There is, I think, some well earned justification for the skepticism displayed here regarding this show.

For example, to draw an analogy that perhaps highlights some of the feelings we have, consider your reaction to The NEW Cosby Show!

or "Moving on up with the Jeffersons!"

and consider what made the original show something worth remembering and how much of it you can change before it's just a name grab for PR slapped on a totally different show.

All very valid points but i absolutely loved Sinners hence by cautious optimism for it and i'm sure there'll be plenty of us white folk in the new show, albeit as the bad guys

If he can get through the pilot without having a white guy make some comment about "women in the FBI", or "colored folks DEI hires" or whatever, then maybe. But Coogler has a pretty thick racial lens with his stuff, though not nearly as much as Peele. So if he can resist the temptation to make the show about race or gender, and just have a "post-DEI" experience with solid interesting characters in an exciting and dynamic world with well reasoned schemes and crimes, no fucking mystery boxes, then maybe it will have a chance. But my expectations are LOW.

Sinners and Black Panther were good movies, but honestly they only got that kind of scores because of the black cast. Surely the reviewers were scared to be called racist and rated the movies a little bit higher than they would normally do. Same with some movies with an Asian cast.

Unfortunately we are still living in times where people still treat people differently depending on their race.
