I never disliked the xbox, but I have no problem with sentiments like that.

you could've gotten a really good card for the $399 your 360 cost

Youre forgetting the new motherboard/processor/memory that go with the 400 dollar card.

and the money I will need to buy all new stuff 2 years later.

Looking good. Getting better. Sure its no BF2 but its an enjoyable game and console gamers should love this.

For the record this is the xbox/Ps2 version:

I will have this day one. :)

with plenty of lag

No it wont have lag. The PS2 version had no lag why would 360?

good to hear. i dont think i've ever played a console fps with 16 players that was lag free, so i didnt think this would be exempt. never played the current gen bf2:mc

Comparing these shots to the PS2/Xbox is pretty lame when it was expected that the previous generation could not support more than 24 players, did not include aircraft nor the centralized-role of commander from the PC version.

Yet, this continues on from the previous gen's shortcomings only w/ upgraded textures as it's main feature. The 360 is easily as potent as a top of line PC these days, why could we not get 64 players? What was the restrictions in not including airplanes, physics? I thought the commander role made BF2 standout from other FPS, why remove it here?

No sale for lame port here.

Wouldnt BF2 be a nightmare to port with it using 2GB of RAM and heavy HD access on pc.

It is not as simple as you may perceive. I am sure Dice can optimize BF2 for 360 specs easily, it's just seems like they went the easy way out- ie, bring over what they already created for PS2/Xbox but spend the extra time to touch up the graphics.

EA did want to keep the console and pc games seperate. Different developers. The pc devs already are working on a sequel.

Its good that they bought Battlefield series to the consoles but they really need to add the 64 players or at least 40 player online support. BF really isn't BF with less than 40 people. I also hope EA remakes Battlefield 1942.

But why mess up something that is already good & proven to be very popular. I can understand the need to switch development, but it should have not been an issue to port it over to next-gen. Seriously, go play the PC version then try the console- big difference.

I dont think a pc to console port would be wise anyway. I dont think the 360 or PS3 could do justice to BF2 anyway. Its wiser to make the ground up for consoles.

I'll buy it even if it is a "lame port". BF2:MC was incredibly fun on both xbox/ps2 and got lost in the shuffle with the 360 launch. Great Live game. Plays quite differently from Ghost Recon.

Sorry not really into RTS usually. So its the best of the FPS' and the decent RPG's.

WoW is my main PC game.

You cannot compare the upcoming console release lists with the PC. I get PC Gamer monthly and see very little that appeals to me.

Let me know how that works out for you.

You're right, that's way better than $60 games and $2000 HDTVs.

I use my 2000 hdtv lcd panel as my pc monitor as well......and I do use the tv for more than x360.You'll also own the hdtv for many many yrs so the 2000 is welll spent.

I love me some BF2, but you've got to be joking. On a technical level the BF2 engine could be run in either systems sleep. Unless you mean the interface side of things, squad management, commander etc. I'd agree there to an extent, PC is the best environment for that kind of thing. But a smart developer could find a way to translate that pretty seamlessly I think.

After the recent 1UP show, GRAW is looking like the obvious choice. Actually, it kinda reminded me of Socom for a bit in that multiplayer videos which makes it even more appealing. BF2:MC is indeed a good FPS if you never got spoiled w/ the awesome PC original, but those who have will wonder like I have on why the shortchange.

Obviously not. No jets and 24 players?

Its a direct port of the console engine, with tarted up textures and lighting. Thats why there's no jets. If they chose to port the PC engine there's nothing on the hardware level preventing them to do so. 64 players has more to do with the server side of things.

The game looks much worse than that ;) EA have a habit of releasing cleaned up shots for the gen. Bear in mind gameplay wise its still seems to play better than graw or Socom.

OMG youve played GRAW??? in no way does battlefield: modern combat (xbox) play better than ghost recon. i can barely get past the visuals nevertheless the gameplay. its fun, but summit strike destroys it

I have hardly taken part in either of these games multiplayer since all 3 dont compare to BF2 pc. You'll have more fun with Modern combat out of the console games however. Bear in mind its quite arcadey there's music in multiplayer unlike BF2 pc etc.

GRAW isn't out yet, stupid. How can you say it doesn't compare?
