xbox 2 free month cards?

I was sure when XBL was new you used to be able to get the "2 months free" thing through their web page.. but they don't seem to have it anymore?

I don't know why they stopped doing that, you would think they would WANT people to be able to sign up without buying a game. Of course, I guess there are always some cheap, CHEAP people who would actually just keep making new accounts over and over again to have Xbox Live for free, but surely not that many as too stop them from giving the trials away without a game purchase...?

And I havn't seen any of the new XBL trial cards yet (I am sure they are out there). Wouldn't any you buy from ebay be expired?

It wouldn't just be abused by people trying to get free Live, it would almost exclusively get used by people doing so. There's tons of people who go forever just getting free AOL months, free XBox live trials and so on. No, Microsoft doesn't want people to sign up without buying a game, because it's the casuals who sign up via the game cards that continue the service. People that hunt down a code online are gonna be the cheapskates doing so in order to cancel after two months.

If you're sure they are out there (and there are), why would all the ebay ones be expired?

Im not a cheapskate, I had an account which I canceled because of the cheaters on Halo2, and because I was in the process of moving and didn't know when I was gonna have a high speed connection again. I want to get back on a month to month bill plan so I called Ms and they said the only way to get Live again on a month to month bill plan is to obtain a 2 month free trail card, and set my setting to begin charging monthly after the 2 months run out.

Ps. Thanks Lakitu, Ill try it when I get home.

pss. The cards on ebay say they expire on 6/05

Oh come on now. Not everyone is out there to do that. I had a few XBL cards lying around and gave them out here, Gaffer's gotta help fellow Gaffer's.

Because I checked some of the ebay auctions and all of the ones I saw were either the solid orange ones that expired in 2004, or the yellow/orange ones that just expired March 31 2005 (like the ones that come with Halo2, only without the pic of the MC). I was just wondering if there was some kind of trick, or they never "really" expire, or something like that.

I bought Rallisport Challenge 2 the other day hoping to get online and test it out, but what do I find when I look inside?

Offer valid 01/04/04 - 30/09/04

:(

So any spare throw one my way, please! :D

A few of the auctions I looked at on ebay the guys say the expired code still works, no problems. Try out your code from your expired card, and see if it works for you! You never know.

Lakitu: I tried it and it didn't work :\ but thanks for the effort! It must be set to a region because I noticed when your going through the screens it also asks which region you are in. I ended up getting one on ebay for $3.00 he emailed me the code and it worked like a charm. Apparantly he has about a hundred of them. :)
