Xbox 2025 wrap-up is not here - the Xbox team doesn’t have a budget for it

Some of you have been asking me if Xbox would be doing its own "Year in Review" style recap of your gaming habits for 2025. My sources suggest that (as you might expect given that it's now the 18th), that Xbox is not doing a "Wrapped" this year. And there's potentially a good reason.

Next year will kick off a confluence of major anniversaries not just for Xbox, but some of its subsidiary properties too. Xbox is having its 25th anniversary, alongside Halo itself. Blizzard is also having its 35th anniversary, and Bethesda is having its 40th anniversary too. Xbox was launched as a brand on November 15, 2001. Blizzard launched in February, 1991, and Bethesda launched in June, 1986 (ironically sharing a 40th anniversary with me!)

As such, a lot of the "marketing budget" that would've typically been allocated to something like an "Xbox Wrapped" is being poured into efforts to celebrate these major milestones for Xbox, its brands, and some of its games.

For sure, I'm told Microsoft has some big plans to celebrate Xbox's 25th anniversary in 2026, which is why you've seen some decreased activity for Xbox community events in 2025. Some of that budget was moved through to next year to accommodate.

Xbox's 25th anniversary is about to be a funeral.

The only Xbox I touched this past year was the PC Gampass App.
I did pull my XB360 disks off the shelf and went through them, I removed all the repeats I had on Epic Game Store, Steam, GOG, and Also all the digital back compats that we got to keep back when Gold was a thing.
I just need to box em up and trade em in somewhere.

WTF. They're cutting back so much they'll even cancel the year in review thing? How much does that even cost?

Windows central acting like it's perfectly reasonable because they have anniversaries next year.

MS is squeezing the Xbox division hard.

I saw a SNL skit making fun of all these 'wrap-ups' and they did one on DoorDash that showed people what food they ordered and there were some funny lines like "Your Age is: DEAD"

Then today I got an email for my Mcdonalds "Bagged"... =(

I have more Xbox game playtime on my PS5 to be honest. (Forza, Indy, FS24) lol
Only thing they should be wrapping is their business outlook in Xbox.

The year without an Xbox

Look at me!!!! I knew Xbox was dead way back in November of this year!!!! Everyone see how smart I am!?!?!?

If Xbox wants a 30% profit margin, they're done with stuff like this. It doesn't generate a demonstrable increase in spending or profits, so they cut it. Sure, it guaranteeably kills the brand and guts any kind of connection your paying customers have with you long term, but all that matters is short term profits so Nadella can continue his over-extend on AI. Can't wait to see the reveal for their hardware - at this point I'm expecting a blog post and another embarrassing ex-Boxer video.

Try 2019

Truth is I do not need it to know I have played a lot of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4, Mortal Kombat 11, Forza Horizon 5, Killer Instinct, and Hi-Fi Rush this year.

I really don't see the point of releasing their next gen console ( which is gonna be a PC anyway and a not a dedicated xbox OS system ).

just partner with your AIBs and rename a version of their PC as an Xbox with the full screen interface and you are good to go .

R&D on a system that will fail and DOA before seeing the light of day is just management.

There is nothing they can do at this point to salvage the xbox brand as a console. its gone and done.

When you are selling your old system from 2020 for a higher price than the a PS5 pro, you know you are dead

Found Ocidax and CentralScrutinizer's reference material for their "research" before they habitually post their Nintendo/Xbox fluffing and downplaying Playstation posts.
Every thing in there was transcribed from the voices emanating from fanboy's anus, their own usually of course, but that doesn't slow them down, no sir.
