IF these RPGs turn out to be something spectacular, i reckon we might see a "Halo" effect. Launch the console with a killer title suited to the japanese, a game that 95 percent of buyers will pick up. Once the the second game comes round MS should have an IP with similar status as Halo (in the west).
Alot of IFs but its certainly possible, especially with Sakaguchi at the helm

I think that this scenario is possible, if difficult to achieve. Everyone says Xbox wasn't successful so neither will Xenon. But I think the real reason Xbox was unsuccessful in Japan was the size, the controller and the lack of games. I don't believe it was a dislike of Western products, which some seem to think is part of Japanese culture. I think if Xenon's system and controller are elegantly designed and Ms can make, or get some killer apps, they won't defeat Sony, but they will have a respectable installed base over there. And you know something is changing on that front, when Square Enix publically says they are thinking about supporting it (whether anything comes of it is up to MS)

I know not all RPGS are like this but the BULK of the highly polished one from japan are. And I love me some highly polished japanese rpgs.
