Xbox developers are reportedly thrilled to bring their games to PlayStation 5

TL;DR: Microsoft's decision to break game exclusivity and release Xbox first-party titles on PlayStation has been well-received by developers, boosting revenue and expanding market reach. This multi-platform strategy addresses profit margin challenges from Game Pass and hardware losses, positioning Xbox for stronger financial performance and broader audience engagement.

in a recent interview with 404 Media, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier says that Xbox's first-party teams are excited about launching their games on PlayStation. After all, this means more revenue for individual studios, all of which balance their own books. Elated teams include Halo Studios, who recently confirmed that all future Halo games would come to PlayStation.

"A lot of game studios are now actually thrilled that they get to release their games on PlayStation--which is a recent phenomenon that's been happening in the last year or so, that Xbox has become a fully multi-platform publisher. As opposed to the past, where they were really just published games on their own platform, the Xbox and the PC," Schreier said.

The topic at hand focused on Microsoft's new target for a 30% profit margin at Xbox, which is a steep goal for the division. Microsoft has two forces working against it: 1) Game Pass, which reduces the overall short- to medium-term value of software in exchange for potentially elongated and more profitable subscription revenues, and 2) all Xbox hardware is produced at a loss.

The move to break exclusivity and sell software on rival platforms was a response to these two squeeze points affecting Microsoft's margins, and was ultimately influenced by the push towards a mighty 30% accountability margin (AM).

Not buying the Indy game since they didn't put full game on disc. Microsoft should understand that Playstation and Nintendo gamers value DRM free physical media that does not need day one patch. If they want to sell more copies, put the whole damn game on disc.

Cant wait for Halo 2 and 3 remake because this two are also OG. And of course Halo 7.
I've played those games to within an inch of there lives. They wont remake the MP, so its tough to get excited about playing those campaigns again. Especially 2, the worst one.

So … which devs are they talking about exactly? A lot of Xbox studios were former third parties that had their games on PlayStation already. They might be happy to just be back to normal. Halo could just be a cover to make it look like Microsoft is branching out, when that's not really the case.

I question the framing of this story.

Of course, for a developer personally, it's always nice when as many people as possible play their creations. No developer is really interested in exclusive games, but the bills still have to be paid.

Of course their games would have died with Series S/X who would be making a big budget Xbox game right now if it wasn't for this change?

"All of which balance their own books"

Creative accounting faced reality and found a way to get away with ité

Halo coming to Playstation might be the first time in Playstation history that a decent FPS is on the platform.
Yeah cause COD, Battlefield,, Destiny, all 3rd party FPS haven't been there, right?

They need Halo...a franchise that's been irrelevant for almost 20 years to show those PS players what's a good FPS.

Also:

Sony's own first party FPS like Resistance and Infamous are better whatever 343i farts out and Call of Duty. I am also excited for what Dark Outlaw Games brings to the table.

Nonesense. The best FPS games Sony had were Killzone, which they have abandoned since Shadow Fall. Pretty much all Halo games are better than Sony's counterparts. I've played them all.

Sorry xbox devs until xbox is no longer under microsoft it will be used disc purchases for me otherwise nothing.

So what is the point of even having another Xbox in 2027....what has it got going for it, that the competition doesn't....

If you say so. Personally never liked Halo series and preferred Killzone 2 to any shooter release at the time but it's just a personal taste.

Duh.

More platforms, more chance for sales = less chance of being out of a job at the end of a project.

That's all well and good but it's not solving the quality issue with MS game studios games. That what they should be focusing on.

They fired the studio that made their best game they put out this gen . Hi Fi rush

Resistance 3, I can admit. But Killzone was never good. Killzone 2, which is the best one, is pretty mid. It just stands out because it was the first Sony first-party FPS that wasn't complete garbage.

Destiny has very good gunplay, the rest is... mismanaged, to say it diplomatically. CoD and Battlefield are not good FPS games, imho. They are servicable in their gunplay (although I think the gunplay in CoD sucks). Titanfall 2 might be the first occurence of a good FPS on a Sony system, so I correct myself here.

But GAF Haas told me that Xbox has no games.

That means they are porting nothing?

;)

Provide the whole series of a game though not these numbed versions like gears "unloaded" and halo super combat evolved.

I replayed the PS3 Killzone and Resistance games last year, and to put them in order it'll be like this:
KZ2>KZ3=R2>R3>R1>KZ1.
Your blanket statement about BF and CoD is very peculiar.

Are you actually trying to tell me that as we stand, Halo has currently the best FPS games out there? Better than all franchises i mentioned?

well, its not like Halo is a "live" franchise, its more like an undead one

Oh, I don't know. The amount of our playstation only brehtren who were excited as the prospect of playing it on PS5 tells a different story.

The other two, though, are definitely dead with no new entries in over a decade for either.

Major Nelson just threw his towel. His opinions no longer aligns with the Xbox division just like Shawn Layden when he left Sony.

They are still better than 343i Halo.

I can assure you whatever Dark Outlaw games makes will sell more than whatever comes out of 343i.
