Xbox disc read error... so soon?

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
I bought my Xbox 2 months ago, and I just recently picked up SF:AC... was fighting my brother in Balrog's stage, then the music started skipping. When I shut the game off and turned it back on, I got the message that the Xbox couldn't read the disk. So I put in Outrun 2 to make sure it's not a problem with the game... yup, that didn't work either. I still have my receipt, luckily enough (for Funcoland)... should I take it back? Should a disc read error happen THIS soon? Are there any quick cures for it?

There are instances where it can fail right away.

My old launch xbox did the same thing last october... everything would start slowing down... eventually DRE!

A couple days later out of all the games i owned it would only play Outlaw Golf.

I would say get a return... but try again just to be sure it wasn't just a bad 2 minutes where the xbox went all emo on you

Same thing happened to me! Crystal Xbox, Phillips Drive? It started skipping, the next match the music just never came, and when I tried to turn it on again it didn't come on at all. But when I popped in something else it worked, and then SF:AC worked again.

Another thing, my xbox vibrates a little from time to time. I'm a little worried about that.

@_@ But consoles 3 years after launch are supposed to be defect free. :( Damn, even Sony is better than that. :/

This is one thing that really has to change in the next gen. I understand that corners have to be cut to get us the consoles at $300 and under prices, but between the guaranteed-to-break Playstation, DRE's on a year old PS2, the Xbox DVD drive giving out so easily, and now my slim PStwo which I bought in FUCKING NOVEMBER getting DRE's and it's inability to recognize Guilty Gear X (and discs of that color), this shit better stop next gen.

Samsung Xbox drive > every other Xbox drive

I personally made sure I had a Samsung drive in my Xbox when I bought it.
It's run smooth ever since I bought it, burns all my CDs smoothly and runs all games fine.

Phillips and Thompson are crap.

Tried returning it, but they wouldn't take it back... I'm gonna have to send it in to MS I guess, anybody have any experiences dealing with MS's tech support? I think I read somewhere that it'll take a month for it to come in... Damn I wanna play it :(

Oh well, while at the store, I bought a new copy of BOF:DQ, so at least I'll have that to play.
