Xbox Live 360 Pricing announced

It's interesting that once you factor in the $20 coupon, the full kit is the same cost as a renewal. You might as well get the additional headset, the free XBLArcade game and the Marketplace points. Especially if you get a deal on the kit, like with a Best Buy GGC or something.

not trolling.. I was just hoping since alot of the things that we pay for now is FREE for the silver package... the GOLD package would be cheaper.. maybe 39.95 :)

my account is up for renewal in Dec.. so every "$$" saved is a BIG plus for me...

Just buy a regular XBox Live card and extend your subscription period now. The extra 12 months gets tacked onto the end of your subscription period, then it will transfer to the 360.

wasnt this stuff announced weeks ago?
Yeah, but some people actually believed some French site that claimed one-year subscriptions were being raised to $60.

I wonder if Microsoft will continue to charge for online gaming if PS3 and Nintendo Rev allow for free online play.

200 Microsoft Points for use on Xbox Live Marketplace

When you get the gold package, you get this. Interesting.

Anyone know what this is actually worth? Will 200 points get you a fair bit ($5 or so) or is it closer to $1 in value?

I thought I'd read somewhere that 100 points = $10. Not sure where though.

If they continue to offer a much better service than the other two then there's no reason not to charge for it.

That depends largely on if Sony and Nintendo are going to offer a comparable all-emcompassing online umbrella like Live for free. I don't see Nintendo doing that and part of Sony's mantra is that they want separate publishers to be in control of online play modes.

Cool. That would be pretty generous if it's true. $20 would probably cover all the microtransactions I'd ever be interested in making

The more I think about it, the more that the 360 really does sound like the only console I'll bother buying next gen

Color me surprised, I could have sworn there would be a price increase to $60.

but, really they just want as many people on it as possible.

MICROTRANSACTIONS BITCHES :lol

Sony's mantra is that they want separate publishers to be in control of online play modes.

If they don't have a unified Friends list with cross-game, cross-publisher invites and a non-gaming voice chat room, I'll buy all the cross-platform online games for 360 instead of PS3...regardless of any graphical enhancements on PS3.

And my online gaming buds will do the same.
