ive had the LIVE kit forever now, but my xbox dvd drive died about a year ago, so i havent really kept up on what games were LIVE capable, or what people were playing.

but i finally set up xbox LIVE a few weeks ago for Halo 2.

so now that i have a year subscription to the service, what games are still worth picking up specifically for LIVE play? (old or new)

thanks.

splinter cell pandora tomorrow and chaos theory. awesome awesome awesome.

Of the newer games, COD2: Big Red One is pretty fun online. Star Wars Battlefront is good if you can find a game that doesn't lag all over the place.

If you like 2D Fighters, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection has Live version of both Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3rd Strike that run pretty good. Though right now it's 90% guys who've been playing competitively for years so I only suggest this to people who know what they're doing.

cool. thanks for the replies.

out of the games mentioned so far, Splinter Cell seems the most interesting to me (i enjoyed the first one a lot). is PT still worth it, or should i just skip to CT?

some of the other games that sound good are Rallisport 2, PGR2, and Crimson Skies, but are they still worth picking up for online play? do people still play Crimson Skies?

ill probably pass on the SF games (i suck at them).

other games i would pass on would be games that have better PC versions (certain FPS' for example) and games that dont have much of a LIVE fanbase anymore. i want to be able to easily find people to play with online.

thanks. is there anything else people are still playing on LIVE?

FAR CRY INSTINCTS

i didnt even know the game had an online component.

is this a sequel to the original, or just a console version? am i crazy or is there something about turning into a werewolf in this game? heh. (i feel dumb just asking that question!)

3rd Strike Live. This was basically one of my dream games for this generation before it was announced and I'm very happy with it. There's lag in maybe 1 in 15 opponents. Otherwise it's just like the arcade. LakeEarth is right though, you'll need to have some skill and experience. Constantly being squashed isn't fun.

I played 1 round of Outrun 2 online and was very disappointed. Haven't tried it since.

It's a remake, but after the first few levels it turns into a completely new adventure. And no, you don't turn into a warewolf -- You gain 'feral' abilities, which increase your senses in the wild. You can track people with your sense of smell, see their tracks, and you can even slash at them with your claws and send em flying through the air (the best part).

The mulitplayer is a blast too, and most of the players I've played against seem to be nice, laid back people (usually 13-25) who don't go batshit crazy and curse you out like almost every other Live game. The community is a blast. Plus, the game itself is a quick, arcadey shooter online, and has features (such as feral abilites, "Predator Mode", user-set traps) that you can't find anywhere else.

The best part -- You can find it for under $30 these days! :D

looks like most places still have it for 50$. i did see Circuit City lists it at 30$ though.

level editor sounds pretty cool. so does predator mode. didnt think id be interested, but i am. probably pick it up if i can find it for 30. thanks.

I'm trying to get more people back onto FC:I. The last time I checked, the user base had thinned out (last Wed), probably due to the 360 launching. But really, there are still so many good reasons to pick this up, esp. in the mulitplayer modes. And yes, level editor kicks ALL KINDS of ass!

ah Burnout, yes thanks.

I enjoyed Rainbow Six 3 Co-Op a lot.

good one.

reminds me i was going to ask about good co-op games over LIVE. even older dead games would do, all id need in that case would be one person willing to hop online for a few hours.

does Doom 3 do co-op over LIVE?

thanks.

System Link only methinks.

Serious Sam 2 has great coop play but I wonder if that's LIVE.. If it is, you MUST get that.

Yes it does do co-op over live, and quite well to. Good performance, no lag, etc. However... (and I dont know if this is different from system link, as I have never tried it) in Doom 3 co-op there is NO plot. Say what you will about there being "no plot" in the single player game.. but I really mean there is NO plot. All datapads, security lockers, cutscenes, etc, all are removed. Any levels that have "puzzle" elements (think of the lift puzzle, stuff like that), gone. With all that stripped out, it is REALLY short, I went through it start to end with a friend in about 3 hours. Don't get me wrong, its still a lot of fun... but only if both people have played the single player. Otherwise your missing so much, you just kind of wonder whats going on.

the lack of ghost recon love in this thread is sickening

Ghost Recon 1 is an awesome game to play online, but I never tried it on XBOX.. On PC, I played it to death. Same with Raven Shield. Tom Clancy games on the XBOX were always.. lacking..
