Do i need to get just a replacement XBOX Live card to renew or can i get a Starter Pack and use that to renew?

You don't need either. Once your time runs out you will be charged $49.99 and given another year of service. Or you can go into the Xbox dashboard and change your account settings so that they charge you every $5.99 every month. You can buy and use one of those cards though.
