Xbox Live router help

I've been trying my damnest to open up my router for XBL. I'm not able to connect to games quite often and can't even talk to my buddies. Quite frustrating. I can't find an online resource that is able to walk me through what needs to be done, though.

I'm using a NetGear WGR614v3 router. Even when I try to follow the directions for port forwarding (such as making my start port 88 and my end 3074) I still get a NAT rating of Strict. Any idea how I can make it and "open" setting?

Thanks for your help.

Give the Xbox a static ip and put the same ip in DMZ Mode in the routers settings.

I changed the Default DMZ Server in the WAN Setup section to the same IP Address that I have on my Xbox 360. It didn't seem to fix the problem though. Any other ideas?

EDIT - Huh, I just changed my IP Settings on my X360 back to Automatic and, for some reason, it's saying my router is Open now. I'm not sure what I did right, but I hope it stays like this.

EDIT 2 - HAHA! I have never been able to connect to Deathmatches in PDZ and now... connected! So this is why people love the XBL. Thanks for your help RC!
