Xbox Must-Have Titles

I own all 3 consoles, but I'm a Nintendo whore so the Gamecube has always gotten the bulk of my attention. The Xbox was a gift from my friends for Christmas 2002, though, and I feel bad that it took me 2 years to beat Halo (just did it last night). To make up for what may seem like ungratefulness (but was really just me being super busy and a Nintendo whore), I've decided to get some more Xbox games.

I have:
Halo (just beat it last night; I could've sworn people said this game was plot-heavy, but it wasn't!)
JSRF/Sega GT (came w/ system obviously)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (gift; barely played it; don't seem to like PD as much as I used to)
MechAssault (stole from Microsoft by doing those quizzes for game store employees to get free games)
Bloodwake (same as MechAssault, except I was going to eBay it; decided it wasn't worth it)
Knights of the Old Republic (my roommate bought this; haven't played yet)

So what exactly should I own?

Thanks for any help. I'll leave with a complaint and another short query: My Xbox is hooked up to a 5.1 surround system. A lot of games, like Halo, have almost no center channel output. Dialog does come from the center, but it's too damn low (yes, home theatre is properly calibrated). GTA: Vice City has the same problem with its DTS support though. No center channel.

What games (and this can be for any system) do you find to have the best 5.1 sound? DPLII is perfectly acceptable. Need not be discrete.

That's the best Xbox game.

Hmm... Maybe I'll ask for Xbox Live and Halo 2 for Christmas.

How long did it take most people to beat Knights of the Old Republic. I don't have much time these days, so a 100 hour game is completely out of the question. Shorter the better.

The ESPN * 2K5 games are great on Xbox and dirt cheap as well.

To me, the Xbox's real strength (other than mod potential) is that it's the best system for most multi-platform games. You may want to look for some older titles like BG&E and Metal Arms if you don't already have them for the Cube.

Game of the console goes to Street Fighter III: Third Strike in SF:AC

As for other games to check out, you already have PDO and JSRF so I would have to say Ninja Gaiden.

I got Morrowind GOTY:ED today

How the fuck could this game win any GOTY awards?

Do the 2 minute load time disappear?

Walk into a dungeon or Off the road at the beginning of the game get killed, wait two minutes for the game to load then do it all again!

The art style is shocking, some of the architecture is interesting but I have not had a fun moment in two hours of gameplay.

I am returning this MOFO tomorrow and getting paper Mario!

Modchip
Outrun 2
ESPN Footbal 2K5
Ninja Gaiden

The Halo series you can live without IMO.

What about Fable? Opinions on this game seem to be as varied as the play options.

It's extremely short but that is if you play straight through without doing the extra stuff. If you decide to do everything you possibly can then it becomes a worthwhile game.

Fable
Halo2
KOTOR
KOTOR2
Ninja Gaiden
Rallisport Challenge 2
Xbox Live
Top Spin (multiplayer)
Chronicals of Riddick
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomrow (XBL)
Burnout 3

OTOGI 2
Shenmue 2

Jade Empire
Conker
Republic Commando

Without Xbox Live Halo 2 is worthless.

And Vice City is the only game I've encountered a problem with the 5.1 system. All other games sound like a dream on my set-up.

bah Halo 2 single player is excellent. I didn't find the multiplayer as fun as the single player.

You're really grasping at straws when you list Buffy in a must-have thread. Give me a break.
I'm sure few other ppl in the forum (not to mention this thread) will disagree with you...

I'm sure I could find a couple people who would disagree with me when I told them that Bonds took steroids, too, BUT THEY WOULDN'T BE ANY LESS PATHETIC, WOULD THEY?

It's clear your not into the Xbox from your earlier comment. So what are you doing in this thread? Jizz over your PS2 / Cube and fuck off.

lol

It really doesn't matter... I did enjoy Buffy enough to consider it as one of the best games on Xbox, and I'll keep recommending Buffy to anyone who's asking about which games to get for their Xbox.

Actually, saying that PDS and JSRF, for me, isn't a really bad thing to say, since they're definitely two of my five favorite games this gen... But whatever. If me saying something negative about a piece of hardware automatically means I'm "not into it," then I guess I'm not into anything. Now I've insulted Buffy?! I must be a "Psyborg."

riddick

Thief: deadly shadows
Metal Arms'
Oddworld: Munch's oddysee

I'd give the first Buffy an 8.5/10. VERY solid game. I loved it!

I never said it was a bad game. But, you yourself, just listed your must-own titles, and despite thinking Buffy is an 8.5, did not list it on your list. Are you going to list it now, and forever be known as a re-lister?

I'll be the lone vote for GunValkyrie.

It's the only game I've played since I got the system, and after getting past the steep learning curve for mastering controls (I'm still working on it...), the game takes on a whole new meaning. Definitely not a game for everyone, but if you're into hardcore no frills all-gameplay-gaming, it might fit your bill.

It's somewhat like Panzer Dragoon without rails, except that a large part of the game is mastering how to stay in the air. Basically it's a 3D 3rd person shooter with lock-on weapons. You're given a jet-pack that will allow you to fly for a short period of time. But with the ability to dash forward/backwards, side-to-side and the ability to hover floating down w/o expending the boost meter, you can prolong your flight sessions almost indefinitely depending on how good you are.

Hated by 98% of the population, but of the 2% who like it, they tend to swear by it. It's definitely one of the best and most refreshing games I've played this gen.

You sir, are a bitch. I'd shut up now.
