Microsoft Corp. has signed a sponsorship deal with Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), soccer's world governing body, that will make its Xbox gaming console the official console of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the company said Friday.
You're going to see a large amount of World Cup and FIFA-related promotions over the next few years, said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Microsoft, announcing the deal at the Tokyo Game Show.
Electronic Arts Inc. is producing a FIFA Soccer 2005 game, which will be available for the Xbox.
The FIFA 2006 World Cup is scheduled to be held in June and July 2006 in Germany.
